The x-station is awesome!! Besides being an excellent midi controller, the actual hardware synth part of it is pretty awesome (the distortion is really neat). Also, the x-station has preprogrammed templates so that all the parameters automatically link up with various vst synths you may use (check out which vsts have templates here http://88.208.201.18/answerbase/article.php?id=028).
The sound card in it pretty good also. We use it for our live performances, but we dont record with it (even
though we could...we have a firewire sound card that is slightly better for recording purposes.) The bad thing i could say is that the sliders are a little cheap feeling, but besides that it rocks!! And all this works with just a USB cable, including power!!
Hope this helps

Reconding directly through the USB generates clips with the sound of his synth. i think first it was something about my hardware, but no, more users experienced that, but if you record from it's out it's grate (i'm talking only of the recording).
For a controller it's really great, but have only 2 outputs, and 2 imputs. that's not a problem if you use a firewire soundcard toguether, but if you plan using only the X-Station, Think about this, it also has 2 midi out's so you can control 2 modules. and it's usb powered, no needs for loose the transformer. |

Just wondering.....have you messed with your audio buffer size settings in your audio preferences? That seems to fix the clicking problem i have encountered in a similar situation (while recording through a usb cable from a hardware synth). It seemed that smaller buffer sizes worked better as long as you dont have a super intensive arrange loaded up.
This may or may not help, but i thought i'd throw it out there
