I have the Novation SL 25. I adore it and will never give it up. Its not a synth, as you know, just a controller, but its great.. awesome, transformed the way I work.

I think for about the same money you could get the new Novation XioSynth, which is a budget synth but with control knobs too.. not nearly as many as the SL but a few.

^^
Are you using it with cubase by any chance? I'm thinking of getting it too since it was a major pain to set up my last controller..

How easy is it to set up and control VSTi's with it?           http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic

I'm using it with Cubase yeah. Installation - well, I've formatted twice and every time I've installed it - it hasn't worked, so I uninstalled, and then reinstalled and its worked perfectly.. a minor bug, your milage may vary. After that though its rock solid.

Its got a ntechnology called automap which is the whole reason I bought it. It lists all the open VSTis on the SL screen, you just scroll through to the VST you want to control and it maps all the buttons and knobs to it automatically. It's like having hardware for every software synth you own.

Awesome!

And no I don't work for Novation

Hmmm but this automap feature supports just a few major intruments right? The rest you'll have to do it the old fashioned way?           http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic

It supported all the main VSTs I use, but you can download user made presets from the website if not. And if there STILL isn't a preset, yes you can make your own, which isn't too hard.

i have the Remote 25 LE..

the controller itself is awesome and fully functional, pretty durable, light, compact, everything you'd want from one

my only complaint is that the knobs are a bit "loose" and seem weak..

i'd personally go for an m-audio if possible..
(realized this after i didn't take time to save cash)
