I have the option to buy one of 'em used .
Which one is better ?
Both are 49 key versions
( Novation -440$ used - 305$
M-audio - 475 used - 255$ )

my axiom 49 died half a year after guarantee was over..and i dont like the keys, since i prefer classic synth style key like on a dave smith poly evolver or generally like synth keyboards..
well, my little nocturn controller is behaving wierd sometimes as well lol..
ah yea, and i dont like the rastered potis on the axiom..doesn`t let you make smooth transitions..

Look for music store where you can try keyboards and buy one. There isn't better method. |

i have nocturn 49 with FATAR keybed. Its very dynamic and expressive, with virtually unlimited combination of MIDI cc's and automation parameters. The interface of automap is very clear - everything what you set there is automatically synced to keyboard.
AFAIK maudio has very cheap keys that break up often, and the assign system is complicated with no onscreen GUI.
If you like fast operation with super-easy editing and parameter assigning go for Nocturn. Its keys are very durable, even if you knock them hard. And believe me - 8 pots and buttons are enough for everything (remeber that you have there limitless number of pages, configurable for every single vst you run in your DAW. Even if you turn the MIDI mode for nocturn you can still add lots and lots of pages with different CC configuartions. Its very simple and intuitive.)
In my opinion axiom in terms of handling is far, far behind Nocturn. +problem with broken keys. If you dont believe me google it ;P |

forgot to add that nocturn has endless encoders, so there is no hassle with pot pickup ;P |

Both my M Audio devices crashed with no warning(one of them during a gig!!!!) Customer support does not exist and the reset doesn't work. I will NEVER buy their products again...EVER!!
