So I just got a Nio. When I started up Live with it, there was horrible crackling when audio was playing with the default buffer length (which was 20ms - the maximum - I think)
As soon as I bring my latency down to below 5ms the signal is crystal clear and my latency is around 11ms. I don't get this? Shouldn't the crackling occur with a lower buffer length, but be clean with a higher one (equaling higher latency?)
Also, it seemed that whenever I changed the buffer length, Cubase/Live wouldn't respond and I'd have to restart the system.(This doesn't seem to occur if I close the DAW and then adjust the buffer size with the Novation control panel)
I'm running it on a dual core 2.1ghz laptop with 3gb of RAM. Any ideas relating to the higher buffer length and crackling? Although I'm not complaining, low latency and a clean signal is great. I currently have it set to 2ms, which I think is 90 samples, which also adds about 6% more to my CPU usage than a higher buffer size (which crackles so much it's unbearable) |
