hey guys, i wonder if anyone have had this problem...
i installed the automap 3.0 software,
the controller worked.
later i did the update (automap 3.5), it also updated the controller itself (via usb), a massage appeared i should restard the controller now. i did so, and now automap didnt see the controller anymore, and the controller is showing a massage "NEED MIDI O/S". also no knob of the controller is lightning up or works...
ive contacted novation about 3 days ago and no answer until now... i just bought this ****** thing gaaahh pisses me off >.<

i think there went something wrong with the update of the controller itself, because if i plug it in via usb and have no automap installed, the massage "need midi o/s" also appears on the controller, and no knobs work.
as i plugged it in for the first time without installing automap, all lights and knobs worked... now the dont.
the problem is, i cant reset the midicontroller >.< its software is broken gaaaahh dam shit 300 fckn €€ arrghg www.soundcloud.com/orgytime |

That sucks. I have an SL mkII and it's run like a dream ever since I bought it... coolest controller I've toyed with so far hands down (APC40 aside, that is)

and this was another reason why i bought it...
im not into dark, but thats not important hehe
well, it seems more people have this problem...
i think ill get it working soon.
do you also use it with cubase5? (not just ableton)
any tricks for improving workflow or such a thing?
is the automap any usefull?
how do you use it?
cheers

I don't use cubase so much anymore... mainly ableton. I prefer Automap over Advanced Mode for the custom knob/slider/button configurations.
Plus, in Automap, you can route Ableton hotkeys (as well as anything assignable using the "KEY" function) to buttons on the MKII. (example, create/delete midi clip, duplicate, arrow keys, cut/copy/paste, show/hide vst windows, fun fun fun!! )

Hm , i dont see the big advantage with automap in ableton, since midi learn is so easy in ableton one could use any midi controller.
In cubase its a big advantage, i use the nocturn so far, scanned my beloved plugins and its way faster to work then midi learn via quick controls or generic remote..
I just consider to buy a new midi controller keyboard and am not sure yet what to get..either a novation or the new edirol a 300 pro..since i like the keys on edirol keyboards so much, and its just a very solid controller..

The advantage is that Ableton MIDI mapping means you're stuck with one knob doing one thing. With Automap, your mappings change to the new plugin as soon as you select the plugin. Win. Not only that, assigning Ableton key commands (see above) -- also win. Also, in Automap Pro (free when you buy the MKII) you can adjust the sensitivities of the encoders -- another win. Being able to do key commands using a controller button versus using your computer keyboard is unparalleled.
