hi fellows.
does anyone has experiences with notebook crashes on livesets? why did that happen, what was the mistake?

it happend 2 times that our desktop-pc crashed. we dont know exactly, maybe the vibration from the monitors was to heave for the desktop. dont know. since then we always keep mix-cds with us, for improvisation.

any experiences? thx in advance...

My laptop crashed at Wickerman festival last weekend... it was because it was on the same power circuit that was doing the lights for the party.

Make sure that PCs are on a separate power circuit to lighting (and the sound system, if you can).           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

neever had any craash on live until now , running PC laptop or MAC powerbook running loggic ..

and about the computer beeing conected to the circuit of the light or monitor , doesn't make computer crash , because if u are talking about a high peak voltage , all laptop in the battery system have a special circuit that doesn't aloud peak interrupt ot hang the laptops , when the battery receive a peak voltage the battery automatically resend it to ground or 0V cable (neutral caable)

boom

advice for does who use laptop on live , try decreaasing the number of tasks required in live , if u need extraa task , get hardware or another laptop is the best option

for EX sector D live , me andmiguel , we use to powermac 2 motu and sinths , why 2 computer , exactly because running to much taask , may cause craash on logic , or outher kind of bullshit :S

I've experienced a crash after the laptop overheated, luckily it happend between songs, so I used the cd. Now I always make sure to use a cooller with the laptop and it didn't happend since.
The bad thing about connecting to the lights electricity is that you can get static noise, usally buzz.           "a new art came into my mind which only you can create, the Art of Noises, the logical consequence of your marvelous innovations." Russolo, 1913

Also the spikes you get when lights switch on and off can cause crashes.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering
