I miss the sharpness or the crispyness if you like. Maybe it's the fact that the bass and kick are too loud in comparison to the almost non audible hihats-snare drum section.
A friend told me once that the biggest mistake we make is that we believe we live, when in reality we are sleeping in the waiting room of life. |

It's definitely a lot better than the previous one. It's clearer, sharper and it has a lot more "bite" now.
Personally I still believe that the hihats-sd need to be higher in volume. They sound a lot in the back of the sound stage. I don't know if this is your general preference for the track, or if it should be like that according to the style. I am not in psy at all, so all my judgement come from a strictly technical point of view. Some styles have their own unique sound characteristics but I believe certain fundamentals apply regardless the style.
Anyway, this one sounds much much better.
Cheers!(Ellinas)

yeah i see your point they should sound more "forward" especially percussion, it's most likely the send levels to the verb. i will play around with it and try and bring it forward, thanks again alex. |

Hey whats up, I just listened to this and it sounds really god melodically and soundwise, but it seems like you've pushed the kick and "leads" too hard into compression and you're losing the rest of the track.
It seems too "loud", I've compared it to some other tracks posted here and "pro" tracks and they don't sound like they're being pushed so hard. Maybe bring things back down a little bit?
a standard technique for mixing is to turn everything down, establish the loudness of your kick and bass, then structure the song around it. If you find yourself trying to cram everything in, turn stuff down again until you get accustomed to the correct levels. |

Hey thanks for the feedback xybre, i havent compressed any elements except for the final master on the bus which is very very gentle with slow attack and release, it might be because im using an sh 101 for the acid lead and those monosynths pack a punch! that's the sorta effect i wanted to give.
the loudness could also be my limiter at the end of the chain bringing the rms average louder but i mastered it against some released tracks and it's dynamic range is similar, thanks for your tips i will try and listen to a different set of speakers as i have only the one pair and can't see how the mixdown translates on other systems, i havent had the chance yet but with my speakers everything is audible.
i will take to my friends house and try there, then i can be sure.
cheers!

You were right xybre, had a listen on my mates speakers and it was a bit boomy, i relaxed the bass levels a bit and seems to be ok now, have another listen as to see if it sounds any better to you.
cheers! |
