North American DJ promo mixes

From now on, all DJ mixes should be posted in the Promotional Media section, and can be mirrored in this thread (along with feedback), to reduce clutter in the forum. |

this has beeen discussed several times before, and vetoed down by the masses every time
Many of us barely even visit it, or have the time to wade thru all in that section. Also most are only interested in promoting ourselves to our own national scene, as there is almost 0 global perception or even care about North American DJ's. Were almost just a footnoot on the global scene anyway.
I also certainly dont want to have to wade thru pages on one thread over here in our home section to add my 2 cents about a mix that may have been posted months ago, and whose time of discussuion may have passed, nor hunt it down in the promotional section amongst the dozens of mixes from other countries that are posted daily
I understand the desire to reduce clutter in this forum, but in the end all this will serve to do is reduce isra-trance as a effective networking tool for North America.
and really compared to many other country sections in isra, the NA section is one of the smoothest running it seems anyways

Paradigm has nailed it. This is in my mind, counter intuitive. If I have to browse through 7 pages of international dj’s to get to one N.A. dj then I will just skip it in favor of other websites. Please reconsider this decision. |

yea, whats the big deal with this? the North American scene is so so sooo tiny anyway, its not like theres that much clutter,

agree with ALL posts, especially considering the multiple solutions proposed. if there has to be a MEDIA section, then there should be one for each region. otherwise, the postings should be allowed until you receive complaints  i just posted a mix and its already gone, damn. look for it in the promo section i guess!

That's exactly what I thought this thread WAS when I read the title. I thought "Finally!" Guess I was wrong... Even a subforum in North America would be nice - then each mix could have its own topic and its own feedback. That would keep it organized, but that might also disrupt the way the forums are organized overall.
As Paradigm has pointed out, the rest of the world doesn't seem especially interested in North American talent anyway, and making a post in the Promotional Media section and then making a post here linking to it seems more like a cluter INCREASE. |

I think you all have misunderstood...that is exactly what this thread is for!!! I'm completely aware of the old controversy and so I offered this new solution. All recently posted mixes will be merged here within the next few days. As always, I'm open to practical suggestions. |

maybe make it a "sticky" and leave it right up top? so people don't have to go searching for it to hear a mix, or add a new one?

Well, this is a talk thread... amalgamating DJ mix content into one thread would require a certain amount of moderation--too much off-topic meta-chatter will reduce the value of such an idea.
While I am not inherently opposed to the idea, here's another way of looking at the clutter issue... most of the posts in the North America section are event listings... given the size of the continent, 90% and up are completely irrelevant to any individual reader, whereas DJ mixes can be enjoyed by all.
Also, I have read far too much drama out of NYC. That could do with being confined to a single thread

i second the proposal for making this a sticky thread if mixes will be posted here from now on... maybe comments should not be allowed to reduce the thread size, and only private feedback should be allowed? not really sure
