I found this article in the Canadian Press, it seems a festival more for the mainstreem kind of music.

I have two questions:
1.- Does some know of any psytrance artist performing there?
2.- You guys think there should be psytrance artits playin in a festival like this one?

WASAGA BEACH, Ont. (CP) - More than 200 artists from around the world will perform at the 10th annual World Electronic Music Festival, running from July 23 to 25 at this Georgian Bay community an hour's drive north of Toronto.

It's billed as North America's largest and longest-running summer electronic music festival, and organizers expect thousands of visitors from across the continent.

"The music stages will spin the latest in drum and bass, house, trance, techno, turntablism and hardcore," said a news release.

Major artists include Motorcycle (from London, England), DJ Scot Project (Frankfurt, Germany), Johan Gielen (Amsterdam), D:Fuse (Austin, Texas), Jesse Saunders (Los Angeles), Deko-ze (Toronto), Craze (Miami), Lou Cypher Project (Ottawa), Kynoxe (Quebec City) and Delirium (New York).

Stages and dance areas will be housed in four massive "hanger-like structures," organizers said.

As well, there will be visual art displays and performances throughout the weekend.

There aren't going to be psytrance producers on a party like this, since America is not yet ready for psytrance being played to a big crowd. Trance music is still very underground in America, so psytrance is even more underground there.           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."

Why don't you talk about something you know about?

WEMF has had psytrance at nearly every one of their festivals since day one. Hallucinogen, Juno Reactor, GMS, Psychopod, Asia 2001, Tim Schuldt, Orion, Shakta, and more have played over the years. In 1998 there was a Return to the Source tent! Trance is not underground here though psytrance remains somewhat so... then again, tell that to thousands of people who regularly attend Toronto's biggest superclub to see Infected Mushroom headline each summer.

Ironically this is the first year ever that there is no psytrance. So you could say the wave has come and gone... but in fact, there are (for psytrance people) better festivals this summer including B.L.A./Eloko's Morning Star fest with Hux Flux & Stella Nutella... see www.blacklightactivists.ca for info on that one...

Is this big semi-mainstream festival of ours much different from the big ones in the UK that Twisted artists play at? Can't you find some fests with bands like Orbital on one stage, and Prometheus on another? I really don't see what the problem here is... the psytrance scene is so exclusive it gets counter-productive.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound so harsh.. anyway, say what you will about the big party in question, they traditionally tried to represent all electronic music styles as their name suggests...

WEMF suck, it used to have big name, but it always sucked and that's everyone opinion on the thing. too big and bad organisation.

WEMF 2004 will only have 1 Psy representz and it's a guy i know personnally here in Quebec City, Kynoxe and he's only a DJ, he's good but he's no artist. It will still suck because only 1-2h of isra full on for 40h of other shit... is not worth it. I think John 00 Fleming while be there, he's spinning prog psy stuff recently.

If you want some psychedelik festival in canada, try Eclipse north of Montreal. This year they are having DEEDRAH, ASTRIX, TICON and NUCLEAR RAMJET live! I'm so there, this is gonna be the best party ever! Last year they had TALAMASCA and X-DREAM. I just can't think of what will be on next year!

The lineup for WEMF has gotten a little worse every year. Oh well im still going to go tho, i always have a wild time. It will suck that there is no psy tent this year as that was always my refuge when everything else made me bored. But yes, i do like music besides psytrance *gasp*

i was gonna go to WEMF, but decided on Eclipse instead for practical reasons, and the simple fact that i love psy parties.

About the lineup getting worse every year, I think this year looks a lot better than last year, but compared to previous years, its still not that great.

Are they having an HHC stage this year? If they have a fucking happy hardcore tent, they should damn well have a psytrance tent. what an insult....
