hey guys,
i was wondering, when i export an audio track in ableton, lets say my basslines for example, do i click the normalize button?
is it better to normalize for somethings than others?
or no normalizing at all?
thanks guys

I never normalize....i only increase the volume in the desired level through an external audio editor as well, when rarely needed.
A friend told me once that the biggest mistake we make is that we believe we live, when in reality we are sleeping in the waiting room of life.

I usually normalize my bounced material and then control level with cubase fader.

Most times normalizing let me see if i need to compress any high peaks. I find it comfortable and i get nice leves for my mix. why would i want to forget about it?

Headroom and one less bit of processing of your audio.

what is the difference between normalizing a channel and pulling the fader down rather than only pulling the fader up? Except the extra processing-step ofcourse?           http://www.myspace.com/fragletrollet

headroom prior to inserts and also DAW metering may not always catch peaks so especially now with 24 bit its advisable to track at a bout -10dBfs

U don't get anything, or?

First learn basics, and then come back and learn more and then try to give a proper answer...
