normality, rules, borders and authenticity...

The music industry is about pushing the envelope of popular perceptions.

Rules change based on how much those new ideas appeal to the mass.

Artists try to make money after all, and the only way to do that in music, is to give the best show in town, i.e. by being better than the rest. The pissing game doesn't stop just coz u play with a daw while entertaining ideas of global unity.

The question to ask is, how to surprise the audience in a way they will like, better than the competition? And when you can answer that, then you have something authentic.

But that's basic life skills...

Who wants fakes? Thats the opposite of authentic.

I am totally agree with you.

The problem is to say what is authentic and what isn't...
I think it's simply impossible and pointless

Well, I know a lot of people who think that it is impossible to see what is authentic and what isn't. But it is possible, sorry to say.

If you think it isn't you probably have not enough trust in your intution, feelings, third eye

Seing what is authentic and what isn't is the same as discovering a lie. It's difficult, but somewhere deep down in us, the information is there. Sometimes its close to impossible, or in some cases it is impossible to find out with just one "case" or "example" but over time every lie or unauthenticity can be discovered.           Most of my music for you to download at:

Trance-dance for me has always been about reaching a meditative state. There is also some science behind this and it relates to the tempo and the 16th and 32nd patterns used. This can influence the brains alpha waves apparently. Too fast and it won't. So for me it ceases to be trance.

Do you have any links on this? It would be very interesting to read about and who knows, maybe it could help make music that induces trance more frequently.

I disagree. Music is not a competition, its not about being better than the guy who played before you.
The minute we start seeing things this way, we are going to have another "israeli-full-on-clones-I-can-do-it-too-better-than-you" decade.
Ask your self this, did you start making tunes because you just love hearing those sounds and because it is the best way to release all that love/hate/whatever that dwels within you? Or did you start making music so that you can prove (to others, or your self) that you are really good at it?

First of all good morning! Or Evening!
authenticity to me is when you really make music for your soul than for the audience.. its my soul in this then. When you feel all say this and that is bad and you are real for yourself and you will do it for instance.
My current tune is 137 my last one which is unfinished is 144 .When i reach a tune I like myself i probably will begin with 180 after reading it all here.
Next tune after that could be 8o again hehe Fuck the tempos make music!
SubconsciousMind your music is very psychedelic for sure. And pipes I also very like your tunes.Different opinios but there is a connection in between of a pleasure of art.

pipe&slippers - making music for yourself is like playing bounce the ball against the garage wall. Pointless.

More to the point - Beauty, happiness, purpose are all institutions that help us grow. People get very stuck on principles. Keep your eye on the ball.

I make music for pleasure.
If i have pleasure when i am composing, then i think someone else may feel good with listening to it...

Personnaly, i really don't care about music industry.

This is just my point of vue, and i understand yours, bukboy.

who cares whether someone feels good listening to your stuff. It doesn't have any value until someone is willing to trade his work for yours.

Tongue in cheek of course, but great truths are oft spoken only in jest.

when you are good at what you do than people will recognize it.
And you can fulfil your soul and enjoy your spirit sharing and morphing with other enegies.IF not you was an original and not a funny copy
Otherwise they accept you as one of thousands .I completely agree with DrucDrac have to check your sounds.
I also tried to play with unusual bars.I once made an experiment where I begun with 3/4 bar with few notes from an eastern scale befor it changed or begun with 4/4 after a minute or so.There is big room for many new tings maybe.7/4 sounds heavy and interesting.
I couldnt do it with science what ppl actually want hear.Try to create sth what they actually dont know.           https://soundcloud.com/shivagarden

Innovation is the key! you feeling bored with what you do, do something else, try new things..
People tend to get stuck in patterns, which necessary dont have to be a bad thing, but as soon as the inner alarmclock rings its good to break those patterns...

the brain needs exercise!

To be honest i feel quite bored with what i do musically right now.. but i know i do innovative things and i just need to expand on that...

but of course rules becomes patterns and what i normal is often something you stick too cause of habbit(patterns)

i think that for your own sake you can break whatever rules you want, if you feel the urge to do a 200bpm, do it... if you want to make some beautiful melodies, do it... if you want to get out of the box and just go whack.. DO IT...

Also if you feel like painting or doing some other artwork you should do that too... its good for the soul to create.... the question might be if the creative outcome is destructive... like the creation of the atombomb... or guns in general...

be aware of unreleased killers

and about authenticity it think that it's basically
a matter if you imitate or if you innovate.

maybe also a question for sources of
inspiration for the creative process.
