what is the best method to normalise a wave(ex:perc, leads,fx. . .every waves)???
Normalize to 0,3 db or normalise to 0 db???
I am asking this because when i normalise waves for my musics,i don`t thing in the future final mix of the tune.
And normaly i normalise my waves to 0 db,but today a friend of mine told me a interesting thing. . .
. . ."If you normalise every waves to 0 db,when your tune arive to professional studios,to the final mix and masterization, the things that you put in 0 db are going to "out the range",because the compensation in dbs that they go to put in other works like(compression, final eqs. . .)"
Please if you understand me, tell me your opinion about what the values that you use to normalize single waves. . .
thanks. . .

actually i'm for of the opinion not to use a normalizing effect (or method)..
just try to keep your track below 0db
and as for the value... 1 or 2 dbs less won't make a big difference for the mastering engineer..
just try to make your track loud and crystal clear but below 0db
i hope i helped..

If you're talking about specific sounds, try to get them normalized from the original.
Normalizing the wavs won't help, since you can increase their volume in the sequencer, without modifying the original file.

Good morning ppl. . .
Mike iam not talking about specific sounds!
I am talking about all sounds in music.
But my doubt finish!!!
I continue normalize waves to 0db,cause i never go to put the normalized sound in 0db in sequencer.
So thats never a problem!
And mike, normalize waves is ever necessary .
I learn this in this form.
You normalize all the waves, and then in sequencer you put the value in dbs that you want. |

kiko i'm sorry i thought you meant the whole track...
although i still believe that normalizing can be avoided by having a good pair of ears and looking the levels at the mixer.. (of course this is for those who get bored in normalizing all samples at same level )

just keep in mind that normalizing two sounds doesn't make them level balanced...
DBs don't always meassure the energy and level of a sound..
nothing can substitude your ears..
