Isn't there any normal working dj stand?
Well, this is a new phenomena I've been observing during the past year in Israel and it's really annoying – both for the dj and for the crowd.
Lately it seems that when you go to a party, there's always an incident / problem with the cdjs or the mixer.
Every time I go to a party there's always a problem with one of them, and sometimes even in both.
Even worse… last week there was a party where the organizer wanted to save some money and brought his home equipment while knowing there's a problem with the "play button" (the "play" button wasn't working for already 2 weeks prior to the event). And I'm sure there are many cases like that.
So is the dj stand the last thing on your mind organizers?
It's annoying, especially for the dj that has to deal with it. Most times the crowd doesn't know there's a problem and blames the dj for the "scratched c.ds" (so he thinks) for example.
So why can't the organizers take care of this and prevent such cases from happening? Like checking the equipment before the party, or getting an extra cdj in case something goes wrong.
  Majority is never right!

Why? Because it costs money. That's why.

It's part of the trance culture for years
Do you remember the old days when DJs connected their minidiscs to the system? LOL
It just shows how professional organizers are I guess. unfortunately, ppl dont vote with their feet here in Israel, and will keep on going to parties even if they didnt get their money's worth.
good point RG.
off with their heads!

well candy theres 2 cases:
1st: orgenizers that want to save money i can only say thats i prefer to go to a party that they try to save money on the cdj than a party that they try to save money on the generator like in a party i was about 6 month ago(and i think i saw u there)
2nd:sound companies that seplay bad equipment which in my experience happend a lot even with the ones that seppose to be the most proffesional and in most of the cases the back up decks are also fucked(but i guesst that got to do with merfy )
  Always agressive never progressive. |

you should see the organization of parties abroad and learn about backstage matters and such.
this is not an ego thing, its a necessity. DJs/artists come to work (well, some of them at least), and need a safe place to put their stuff (a place that has no access to ppl from the crowd), rest maybe and also have a comfortable environment to play in good mind.
There have been so many parties where I had to start running and solving sound/electricity problems just because the organizers dont give a flying fuck about this side of the production - from decs and mixer that dont work to power failures (because the electric feed wire was crossing the dancefloor and ppl were disconnecting it!), water (dripping on the gear), and the worst: they never organize a DJ lamp! I mean, how are we supposed to see what we are doing in the middle of the nature? guess which tracks to play and which channel to switch?
Or for instance - monitors. is there such a thing in trance parties? rarely. I actualy taught myself to mix using only earphones because of the usual lack of monitors.
Organizing a party demands also minimal technical knowledge in sound, electricity and lighting, just as it demands knowledge in business management and crew management. if an organizer dont know about these issues, he/she should appoint someone with that knowledge to take care of the issues that arise.
cheers

Well said rave girl.
Everybody here in the holly land think that psy
trance was invented in Israel and that the
scene here is the wildest and so....
This kind of shit will never happen in Japan,
and any other scene that respect itself and
its pepole.
Have fun.

Well, I AM Biased, but i think that the "Self" club has a pretty solid DJ station.

well, if it's a low budget underground party then i can usually understand it.
but on high key parties it's unacceptable, and then it only happens if the rental house fucks up.
Candy, remember that the production u are talking about was not a comercial party.

im with you here candy
in the last party i played last week the mixer was not even a d.j mixer....and ........it was rental ..not home equipment.
its about time the organisers start to ask the sound company theyre working with about the gear they bring with them. |
