Hey guys,
I just wanted to know what's the difference between the Nord Lead 2 & the Nord Lead 2X?
Are there a lot of features that have been added on the 2X?
I have the following options right now & i don't really know what's the best:
1. Nord Lead 2 Keyboard (580 Euros)
2. Nord 2X Rack (400 Euros)
3. Access Virus A (400 Euros)
4. Access Virus B (520 Euros)
5. Access Virus TI Desktop (950 Euros)
Which one looks like the best deal to you?

a TI for 950?
Wow, that's a great price!
I would go for it, It's double the price than the rest, but it has three times the possibilities and luxury.
Do you have a keyboard, and are happy with it? So don't buy another keyboard. It's just a waste of space.
Do you want to go cheap? go for the nord rack x2 if you like it warm, subtle, liquid.
Go for the Virus A if you want it harsh, little less quality but more outputs and multitimbrality... but note that the nord x2 is much newer than the Virus A, therefore quality of the nord is a bit better (at least for me)..
Have a closer look at the TI and see what it has to offer, I have one and am very happy with it. Especially because it gives me two sterochannels directly into my cubase via USB PLUS the 6 analog outputs that come over my soundcard.. AND it's to handle like a VST plugin, total recall, no worries etc. Don't believe the rumours, that it doesn't work well, it's all fine now with the newest OS.

Thanks for the reply!
The keyboard is definitely out as it would take up too much space anyway..The TI is a great deal since the guy selling it needs the money quickly..
I'm just wondering if the TI is worth it as for that price i could get both the Nord 2X & the Virus A..
How about the Virus A versus the B? Did they really make a lot of improvements in the sound? I was checking out the specs on the website & the only major difference seems to be the FX on the B..
Keep those opinions coming!

Hi,
Virus B has more voices and FX, assuming you do FX in cubase with plugins they will be far better quality anyway.
I had an A from a friend long time, finally I bought my own virus, a Virus B. I never noticed a difference in sound. never used the FX, but it was good to have the additional voices and multitimbrality, if you don't use all the outputs there is no advantage in this.
NordX2 and the virus A... hmm
depends... you get more flexibilty, a total of 10 physical outputs (do you use a external mixer or do you mix in your DAW? if you mix in your daw you will need 10 free inputs in you soundcard to use that advantage)
the Virus TI gives you two stereo channels via USB (4channels) PLUS 6 analog. if you mix in you computer you have a total of 10 channels, but only need 6 channels free on your soundcard. If you mix externally you only have 6 channels.
You get more sound diversity, by buying the two other synths. Thats a great advantage. More knobs. Thats a big thing.
With nord and Virus A, you will have to deal with midi, recalling sounds for your projects manually or via programchanges and all that annoying stuff.
With Virus TI you have nothing of that. Just open your song, all is set up as if it was a plugin.
It's a difficult decision, really depends on what you are after, how you mix, work, what soundcard you have...
I have a Virus TI and a NordModular (1)... I use the modular very rarly, but it's good to have another spectrum of sounds.
hope that helps

Shit, i can't believe i forgot to think about how i'm going to use the actual synths in my setup!
I mix ITB & i've got a RME FF400, so that gives me 6 inputs..So i guess i can forget about using two synths with my existing setup..
Your point about recalling sounds all the time is also making me lean towards the TI, i would hate to have to do that or be forced to bounce down all the time..
Thanks a lot dude you've been really helpful, i appreciate it!

But its all comes down to what you are looking for
Test em out somewhere and then decide

LOL - as if synthesis wasn't infinite. No Offence, but only somebody who is only using presets would say something like that, wouldn't it?
But true, radias is a really nice piece of gear. It's just not for debate here, except you have one in this price range, have you? I'm intrested..
One more thing for the TI. The synthesis possibilities of the TI are much more, than from the older virus and the nord.
BTW. if speaking from "everyone" Vanguard and Z3TA is used by everyone but surely not the expensive hardware... it's what you make of it anyways.. Most of my music for you to download at:

990? woow, I didn't know!
Thats a dammed good price... And yes, it's really amazing, and sounds great!
I always had a fable for Korg, once had a microkorg, and used the prophecy and electribes of friends a lot...
Maybe I'm gonna sell my old modular for a change

hmm, sample accurate... I'm not sure if one can apply that to an external synth?
Concerning latency... the ti is connected via usb, you can control it via midi or via USB (appears as if a vst instrument in you host).
I never noticed latency via midi or usb.
concerning the signal that comes via analog over the soundcard, it's all up to the soundcard, speaking of the audio signal that comes over USB, the latency is given to the host, and if it supports latency compensation, it compensates that... to say though, that in cubase 4 it sometimes looses the compensation obviously, restart cubase and all it's tight again.
For me it works very well, but maybe I'm not such a tight ear, since I like it if everything is living a little

i've come to the conclusion that unless a seriously cheap bargain comes along it's worth waiting until i can afford a Virus TI. more flexible, more powerful, more adaptable... it's got everything going for it.
but before buying anything i will spend as much time as possible using the synths... whether in shops or using friend's gear.
