Hi I was wondering if anyone might know where I could perhaps get my hands on some psy trance oriented patches for my Nord Modular G2??? |

Thanks PsYx,
I've actually tried both these places and while they have been helpful aren't particulary that concerned with psy trance in particular as you said.
I'd be quite interested in finding tutorials aimed at creating psy patches or sounds using synthesizers in general. I have come across a few, mostly "how to's" for basslines or kick drums. Nothing really aimed at some of those killer sounds and little tricks these artists employ to create that archetypal psy trance sound. It seems to me to be a subject shrowded in mystery, why don't we ever see any of these artists sharing some of they're secrets in forums such as this?? |

I think you can only use the Nord Lead 2's patches into the Discovery synth. I don't know about the NL1, but safely not the Nord Modular. |

kidzero, i put some info in the thread 'just an idea...'
the thing is, there is no fool-proof way of making 'typical' psytrance sounds... The only thing that is quite constant is the sawtooth-wave... Also, some of the 'archetypal' sounds are achieved using a specific synth, like the virus for example, if u want to sound like de south-african dudes... Most of the 'typical' psysound comes from the use of reverb and delay, and from modulating pitch, cutoff and volume (to make things 'rasp' for example u can gate the volume in 64s or 128s) |

kidzero, there are loads of patches that are build like other synths (NL2/3, Moog, MS-20,...etc...), which can all create "PsY"-sounds...just read some of the threads on making the sounds on this forum...and try it on existing patches...study them, and try to recreate things...check-out the audio-in feature, to apply wicked fx on your samples..
Making your own sounds can be a wonderfull thing, almost limitless possibilitys with this beast !!!
Go for it....plunge into this synth for a while....leave your music , and 'plunge' into this red devil....
Why go for the 'established' over-used psy sounds, while U now have the chance to be original !!!

Hey Guys,
Thanks PsYx and FREGLE, I completely agree with originality being the key to fresh sounds. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to share some ideas on the subject!!!
It's time myself and the little 'Red Devil' became a little more aquainted.
