Are you sure you're using the correct MIDI ports on the Modular? There are two sets - one for the editor (the PC ports) and one for sequencer control (the MIDI ports). If you connect them up the wrong way round you will not have control either from Cubase or from the editor. You should also make sure that you have the correct MIDI channels set up in both the Modular's System page and in Cubase.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

well here's the situation ,,,

ive connected the PC in and PC out on micro mod into the Midi out and Midi in ports of my sound card respectively.I havnt connected any other external midi device to the micro mod , so thts about it.Also , im able to assign the knob to different parameters on the editor , which i think indicates the fact that the editor is recieving midi information from the soundcard ?

Im utterly confused at this point ,,,Im surely missing out on something

Colin if you could elaborate on the right setup for the nord(explaining the appropriate connections) , i would be extremely greatful

cheers

so the way i did it is to use a double midi interface .. (i have a midisport2x2)
the midi 1 is connected to the PC connections of the micro and midi 2 is connected to the midi connections of the micro
that makes 4 cables ...
so if you use cubase and the editor at the same time; be sure to disable in cubase setup the midi interface used by the editor. that leaves you with the other interface that you can use to send notes and controls from/to your micromodular using cubase
i'm not sure i made that clear ? to sum it up : the micromodular has one midi interface to use normally with a controller or a sequencer and the other one (called PC) is just for dialog with the editor (it only transmits sysex data).
this is how i did it but i'd like to know if it's possible to do it using only one interface ... because now i can't plug my virus anymore and i'm too broke to buy a bigger midi interface

It's not possible. To sequence the Nord Modular and use the editor simultaneously, there is no way around using 4 MIDI cables.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

say colin ........!
are there any patches you recommend trying because there are a lot and a good deal of them seem to be very "noize" oriented and quite hard-listening.

try http://nm-archives.electro-music.com/010_NordModular/011_Patches/Browl_Anig/

i believe he was a psytrance guy but i havent had a NM in awhile.

you will really need to learn to program your own patches to get the most out of the NM though.
