There has been nord vs discovery threads before with mp3 comparisions. Pretty clear difference.
You can even hear it in the Gearwire video even though the sounds quality is crap.

Well I compared my Nord to Discovery and quess what!?
They sound totally different from each other.
I mean, they don't sound anything alike really.

Just even playing 1 saw oscilator with the filter opened all the way, and the difference is huge!
Where the Nord has a sharp, clear crispy saw sound.
The Discovery adds a very weird low buzzing character to the sound, as if a second oscilator is playing a low sinewave.

I'm not saying the Discovery sounds bad, but it just doesn't sound anything like the Nord.

Insteresting thread.
Its interesting to read such diferent opinions, speacially some being also owners of a nl themselves.

I have a nl2 for about 3 years now, and if there is one piece of hardware in my studio than I´m sure I´ll never sell is my nord...I just love it!

Sure, there are many sounds I can´t do with it, thats why we use diferent synths for diferent tasks, but there are for sure many sounds I can do with it that I never managed to get with anything else, I can get close, but never with the sharpness, detail, and fat sound I get from the nord.

There are indeed many artists with nord leads, and I became so into it that it became quite clear to recognize it, you can do those elastic sounds, those nl classic leads with diferent tools, but as I said, I never got close the the clarity I get from the nord.

Furthermore, the hardware is really resistant making it great to take out for lives, and after 3 years of heavy use, the knobs are still tight and precise way beyond any midi controller I´ve tried.

Also, owing hardware synths made me learn much more about how they work and their signal flow, wich helps me so much nowadays to get to the sounds I want.

To those who said they just bough one, but haven´t experienced too much with it, I´d serioulslly advise you to get your hands on the manual, flip trough it, and start trying to make that beast scream (if you think is too raw, stick a slight reverb or delay with it) it takes some work (the factory presets are not that great for psy) but it will be a great satisfaction when you get there

I do understand its easier to work with softsynths, but once you have your hardware setup properlly configured and you get used to it, it can make the workflow much better and more fun, and also make your sound feel more natural with all the control in your fingers...

Well, that is my opinion anywayzzz

BOOMZZ!!

some reaktor ensembles sound more like a nord than the disco dsp (not really the same but you can be close),last time i got a nord in the studio i used it 2 times in 2 weeks just to make some patchs for my friend ,i don t like the sound ,it s old but in a bad way to me (and if you don t like ,it ll never sit nicely in your tracks except for few fx ,bass ...)

Has anyone ever made a Psy bank for the Nord Lead 2?
I'd be interested in any Psy patches made for it.
