I am considering buying a nord lead at the moment as i have heard it is a very powerful synth and especially good for psy trance. Currently i use all software synths such as albino, z3ta & vanguard so is it worth buying the nord when i have good soft synths already? |

i recently got usb ultrafocus which is a library of vintage hardware synth samples. Having listened to it I can say with complete confidence that H/W is much better than S/W. The patches are more expressive, the modulations are better and generally much more work has gone into preperation of the patches to the degree that sw sounds quite tinny to me in comparison.
The hardware sounds sound much more interesting to a shocking degree. I didnt know how dramatic a difference it is but it is stammering.
I have a soft synth library thats 10 Gb big and very few items have a comparable ability.
like reaktor, absynth, albino, rhino and octopus.
even z3ta+ sounds inferior, vanguard definitely. anyway a piece like the nord will surely pay off.
ciao. |

I bought a hardware synth.....the hands on control rocks and adds a lot of feeling to your music,I find it much easier to learn this way too..........not even mentioning the phat sounds it makes!

NORD LEAD 3 !!!!!!! is the best !!!
Obviusly everyone who uses soft synths will tell you that soft synths are much better or like more,
but once you go to any Clavia product you never will care about using a soft synth.
Well for other sounds yes..

for sure its a great turn to start buying hardware... and what a piece of hardware you are talking about... but keep all your software synths, dont throw them away...
you will find different use for everything you have in your studio, virtually or physically speaking...

for sure, HW is more powerful than SW. more "depth" in the sound, more precise, more possibilities etc etc...

possibilities and preciseness really depends on the tool...
depth in sound is probably subjective.
a sound can involve so much...
Both are good and server purpose..
more ontopic, i really would love to have a nordlead 3...
