modulars and analog to me it add advange..technlogy make us lazy in way.. no presets... mean you have to learn the synth inside out to program the patch you have in your head fast..that can only a benefit for example, but it need time for experimentation..loads of it but in the end it s not time loose.. make it easier to develop your own sound, and the sound is of a very high quality.. even wih just little processing the production could be already very high.. cause the source is top notch sound |

tbh , id rather just make up a few tweek for you as all my spare time is going into finnishing my first album, but if you send me a few midi lines ill DPO the shit out of them.

mate wondering if the toppobrillo oscillate low to make good kicks and toms? it seems a bit shy down there on your sample
will definelty intrested into this one if one day i jump into eurorack..look like everyone rate them high.
and how do you like the borg, do you still have it? |

plus maths has a huge range, and my shitty little house soundcard,
borg is lovely but allas a MMG is on its way and they have the same functions ( MMG has loads more)
i know im gonna regret getting rid of it but got to happen
if you can find a toppo brillo get it , rarer thans hens teeth and no chancer of a second hand (from my cold dead second hand)
can use it as a quadrature lfo
use it to play line level stuff into modular
repatching in the banddpass into the cv in will give you a morphable lfo wave, sine to saw i think
the dpo is the king of the kicks in my book
ill knock up a few kicks later tonight bud
edit..... sussed it , it was going into the
borg on hi pass so i could get a wider tweek without popping my old Waldorf Linton 3xp speakers,(vintage...lol) |

Nothing yet. I'm still in Afghanistan, won't get back in the States for another couple of months. I am in the deciding process right now on a synth. So far, Nord seems to be most of your top picks. Dark Energy has been replaced by Dark Energy II, which seems to not be so popular amongst reviewers. Everyone liked the first one better. I'm not looking to spend more than $2000 on this. Or if you can recommend one under $1000 that would be even better.

2000 i would check the micromac more closely. (or Future retro Xs + a other one like the sem pro /boomstar or dark energy V1 there is lot second hand or ms20 mini, would keep you busy for a long time)
but depends your needs, if you need automation presets ect..( load of great plugs for this so for me it s not a deciding factor)
the workflow with analog could maybe turn you off..or quite the opposite it could boost your creativty and inspire you..really personal. |

sent you a clip. quite hard to get the proper envelope out of maths, so its just some sweeps really
but it makes the room fucking wobble when it drops low
but to be honest this filter is super sweet in the mid ranges, bandpass is got to be one of the best ive heard
get some really authentic sounding 808 toms and claves
out of it. hard to desribe but its got that tone
almost perfect in every sense of the word |

what vca do you use?
i was really intrested into that filter but it s maybe too close to my Xs to be picked as first one.. beeing multi 2 pole sound can be a bit similar..i have the feeling i need to bypass the Xs amp to get a more tight detailed sound out of it when needed, a bit like in your sample, need to try..
with what you woll go first as i already have a 12db multi , a mmg ? dpo,mmg i m sure would be sweet combo |

just the filter bud, and VERY clean. ive said it elsewhere i think but its got a very fresh sound to it, everybody seems to be playing safe rehashing vintage filters whearas this is using modern stuff in a very precise way , without any flaws really. all the filter types have the same character (i know it sounds stupid but i find some SVF'S lose something between their different states)
also got an mmg coming on weds, cannae wait
vcas will be the last thing i buy, not just about volume tasks but used for cv so will have to do a bit more research first but i like the malleko VCA x2
the input to the toppo brillo is cv'able so im using that at the moment (makes the filter a LPG kinda)
just bought a Koma kommander today as well
will use it to milk the maths a bit more
start tickiling some vactrols for real |

ok , so the dude with the rubicon, also got a dpo ,mmg, korgasmatron, pitsburgh filter and a couple of other things
but i really like the DPO BORG2 combo, so sweet and organic, almost getting into arp2600 territory when im playing them into my old speakers
i would say have a crack at a Corgasmatron 2, you have 3 osc with their own output and if you got the expander this would give you 3 diferent filters at the same time
ill get some audio for you later on in the week when i see him next
how would you rate ther osc on the xs, with waht would you find them comparrable SH ,Juno, Korg
itll give me a better idea of what osc to play into the filters |
