Hello friends, if the question is not the money, what of these synths is your favorite?
Note: I read both specifications
Thanks

I must say I got the nl2 and i prefer it much more to the 3...I think its a more "metalic" sound, I think they both have very diferent filter engines.
I've had both 3 and 2 in my place for a couple of months, so I have no doubt about my preferences...
I think the 2 is also a much more psy classic, it gives a very "known" sound, most artists of psy have a nl2 and not a 3 in theyr studio, astrix, gms, infected, deviant species, dark soho and lots lots more...
I find the nl3 to be very good for ambient sounds, and I think it can give a wider variety of sounds than the 2, and its an impressive machine with the amazing led dysplay that lets u know everything that is hapenning at all time, its just really practical. I was disapointed to know the 2x didn't bring that also
But the leads of the 2, im just in love with it, i got it for a year now, and every day I love it more! Wouldn't change it for any other!
And also, if u choose the nl2, u still keep some money to buy something nice, like an fx processor for it or a reverb unit...

Well, I used both. And I think both are great synths! Nord Lead 2 maybe has more "plastic" filter, but NL3 sounds has much more sounds/presets.
For sure with NL2 u will make those GMS/astrix like synths very easy. But imo if everybody have the NL2, get the NL3. Or do u just want to copy what other artists do?
But no doubt that the leads od NL2 are AMAZING, POWER! And the "texture" of NL2 filter is unique!

if you like the nl2 sound then why not go for a nord modular.,
same tech & filters (clavia used it to develop nl2)
thousands of sounds and alot a lot of knowledge on the modular mailinglist.,
since the nmG2 came out the price of nord modulars and micro modulars drompt dramatically.,

Just got the NL3 (Rack) ...
Amazing amount of sounds ... and it looks kickass
NL2 sounds different - agree with that, but I'm really impressed with the NL3 .. - and it looks kickass!
My suggestion on deciding between the two - play with them both as much as you can before you buy (if possible)..
Peace.

Go for just a check on the nord modular too. You will be able to modify the sound by the way you want, cause its"architeture" is modular. To create a sound on it is not so simple but you can download a thousand patches on the net and modify by your own.
As ZilDoggo says, there are a lot of knowledge on the nord modular mailing list .

kada,
"you can download a thousand patches on the net"
i have to correct you,
it's actually closer to hundred thousand patches (100.000).,!!!
but i have to admit that there are a lot of patches that only show a point, not ment for music making.,
but anyhow, hundreds of thousands of patches is a lot.,

humm.. Not meant for music creation? ..
That seems a bit harsh
I don't think I entirely understand your point

well, most of those patches come from the NM mailinglist.,
and some of those patches are only created to show how to solve certain problems (people are REALY helpfull over there)..
those patches are usually not so well suited for music creation because they are a bit unfinished,., like no velocity connected to envelope levels, no midi controllers assigned to parameters, etc.,
of course you can use those patches but they are just not very friendly as a musical instrument,.., that's all,.
but otherwise loads and loads of cool patches.!!.,
and then of course there are the noodles,.
