after playing a bit with the demo i find the sound is more soft, less harsh and maybe less modern than reaktor, there is few things that sound better than lot of vst(how the osc glue well together and few other things ) but i didn t like the overall caractere very much.you can find the full reaktor 5 for 200$ new,imo the g2 engine is a bit overpriced but it s really about which one sound the best to you .

i m not sure cause i didn t a/b them but from what i remember the nord 2 is warmer and i m talking just about the oscillators too ,i was suprised about the sound of the g2 demo but not in a good way.

i had the nordlead and i sold it for a g2
in my opinion, u cannot compare these 2 because g2 is million miles away from nordlead
g2 sound is warmer, and has a much wider range of use
nordlead is good for leads and pads and that's pretty it
g2 is good for everything, including bass , drums ( u can forget about basses with nordlead, not powerfull enough)

I was under the impression that the nord g2's "character" was relatively "dreamy" like the nord lead 3, compared of course to a virus' oscillators with their characteristic dark and bass heavy sound. Now if the g2 is designed in the same philosophy, I would stear clear away, since I'm not looking to create those types of sounds.

what you do with a virus, you can do it with a G2 for sure
u can make big distorded virus-like basses with the G2
simply impossible to do with a nordlead

side-A it s a long time i haven t used a nordlead but if the g2 demo sound as phat and good as a nord 2(i doubt it),the top vsts have make a big step , browsing the patchs on the demo and there is one supersaw with maybe 8 osc , honestly some synth sound phater with just one or two .

well i can't say about demos, actually i don't know what kind of demo's you are referring to ,if it is live demo, or pre-recorded samples.but concerning the hardware synths i can assure you there is no way you can make any really good basses with nordlead, the synth isn't powerfull enough, doesn't have enough attack , doesn't go low enough on the frequencies
with G2 u can make rythm, kicks, basses and for sure nothing to compare to vst either.. also G2 has much more brilliance and harmonies in the high freqs than nordlead ...i couldn't say wich one between G2 and virus is better (i use both ) but i can tell you that both theses synths runs in another category than nordlead, wich is way more limited than the 2 others.
but i'm not sure i really understood your post and what you wanted to say actually ,sorry

I haven't tried the demo, but I'm utterly utterly in love with my micro modular. That thing gets the heaviest basses and weirdest noises imaginable.
