what is the best for a psy trance (Full on)
Nord 2 or Nord 3??
and
Delta 4 4 or 6 6 ?

If you need I would better save money for a 1010... Instead of buying nord 3, and probably wait more...

nord 3 is MUCH better (thats the way in things like that no ???? - lets get into the arrgue of 98 / xp
heheheh )
anyway they sure did a great job with the 3
takeing A LOT of information out - which means u can atually see it as a knob for instance ....
small example - in nord 2 u CAN't now where your knobs stands at first look ...
in nord 3 they add small lights around the knobs so u can see ....
and much more ....
hehehehe
remmber it's all about the money ,
and another thing ,
why but an expensive synth with keybord ,
where u can get a rack version ,
and control it by MIDI ???

the nord 3 has a lot more sound generating possibilities than nord 2 and the controls are amazing. The basic sound is different to the nl2 (which is in turn different to the nl1). You should check 'em all out to see which sound you prefer. Never buy an instrument on specs... |

p.s. actually, check out the new alesis ion: it seems pretty interesting. They are throwing a lot of dsp power at only creating a few voices so it should sound pretty good. Also, it has quite a few filter models in it and it is quite a bit cheaper than the nords. Dunno when it's coming out though. |

Nord Lead 3 is a more powerfull sinth than Nord Lead 2,
but the NOrd 2 is a psy trance classic, so if you want to produce some classic sounds.
Astrix, Infected, Dark soho, etc, all use the nord lead 2. Do you think they can't afford the 3? I don't think so... |

There is one negative aspect with the Nord Lead 2 and 3 that we are all aware...there are no effects for anyone....
As I quoted before, the nord lead 2 is by far a much more psy trance classic than the nord lead 3, and with the price of the nord lead 3 you can afford the nord lead 2 plus an effects processor, wich in my opinion would be by far a much better option.
Start to pay atention to what machine the artists are playing in their lives, you'll be amazed with the amount of bands using the nord 2.
Has you all may have noticed, I'm a big fan of the nord lead 2, i have one, and i love it!

While I personally prefer the sound of the 3 to the 2, Fluo is definitely right on one point: the nl3 doesn't seem as good at that ripping sound that the nl2 is famous for. And that sound is indeed a a psytrance stock-in-trade.
However, you can definitely make it on other machines and softs as well. Check out discodsp's discovery softsynth which, I hear, is quite a good nord copy. Demo at http://www.discodsp.com/ |
