"NOISY IMPLANT" - compilation on Resonoise records (RESCD02)

(another review i found in my virtual attic, under years-thick layers of digital dust)

Tracklist:

1. "The Cell" - Neotone
2. "Go Hard" - Sententia
3. "Grut" - Mumbo Jumbo
4. "Mad Niece" - Igneous Sauria
5. "Fikirindia" - Loopus in Fabula
6. "Pow Wow" - Navajo
7. "Dental Blues" - Speers
8. "Squirm" - Mekano
9. "Passing Shade" - Alfredo Headphonso

This is the second release of this London based label after their storming first (the ESKIMO compilation) ..
let me hook you up with some of the noisy sounds my ears have been implanted with, lately.

Here's the story ...

The CD contains 9 tracks of which only the second one, being SENTENTIA - "Go Hard",
gets me out of my chair to reach for the forward button (as a result of having no remote control).
I'm sorry Chris , but you have un-released some more powerfull, less-clubby stuff.
Great kick and some nice screeky sounds in there, but not my standard issue cup of dmTea.

The album kicks off nice-n-crispy with "The Cell" by NEOTONE:
an easy tredding marching-pace entry, welcoming us into the realms of modern noise.
This track starts with a spaced out speech, almost sounding like an advertisement for
some kind of spacetimetravelling agency.
I know i just left planet Earth 2001 AD yet don't know when&where i'm going,
but i put enough trust in the craftmenship of the psilot to get me then&there -
besides, i do like surprise trips every once in a while.
Weird thing is, they keep on asking "don't you wanna get out?" .. you kidding?! I just entered this ride!

MUMBO JUMBO represents itself with an almost authentic sounding track
(very Cosmosis , very KindaWeird-to-TwistedWeirdStrangeSick-ish) called "Grut":
very groovy and warm, building up rather slowly without showing any climax or chaos ; great morning stuff.

IGNEOUS SAURIA (Magus' Christos, who mastered this album) "Mad Niece" is a kind of dry & funky tune.
Me thinks his niece has had a few drops to many before the recording,
according to the sounds she makes throughout the track
(mumbling, sometimes almost talking & laughing just off-hysterical). Niece One!

Then LOOPUS IN FABULA : "Fikirindia" feels like riding a trippy runaway train
through the dark digital jungle of Italia.
This one gets me spaced out by a variety of chaotically appearing yet well timed sounds
that sound so live, i wonder where Loopus catches his waves
(organic synthesizers? samplecritters? interzone soundbank connection?)
.. Manyways: All aboard - next stop : any dancefloor, after midnite.

My personal favourite flavour of this release, "Pow Wow" by NAVAJO :
with more bounce to the ounce and their sounds surrounding me like a tribe
of indian spirits, all saddled and ready to rumble, i can only add : Hokahey!

SPEERS (Snug as a Bug/Yumade side project) "Dental Blues" :
groovy & tasty yet dry like biscuits without jam.
Pounding on & on at a level of straight tripping.
Sort of feels like it's not going anywhere specific , just press the red button & GO!!

MEKANO's "Squirm" takes off quite muddy & swampy, cloaked in dark fog.
Nicely rasping rhythm accompanied by different shapes in shades of sound, squeaky & skreeky,
leading me deeper into their realms, slowly adjusting tints in darkness, layer by layer.
Wish it would last somewhere like half an hour longer ...

With ALFREDO HEADPHONSO's "Passing Shade", the compilation ends trippy morningstyle :
slowly yet surely the tingling sounds lift my mood to a more bright
& shiny level than the eight preceding tracks may have reached darker ones.
Like the Sun is starting to shine its diamond rays after an eclipse,
breaking through the shade of the Moon.
Certainly a nice piece of psychedelicatessen for desert
after having some pretty heavy main dishes. Yum!

Kids : Do play this at home (too) !!

hope i didnt put to many megafors in there ..

Thanks for the review... it's a good one!
We never got much feed back on this CD apart from people we know in London... so it would be nice if anyone else out there has more comments to add. Although I guess it's a bit out of date with todays sounds.
Thanks again Satyr

no sweat Glen my pleasure

on the out of date topic:
i still play Navajo/Mekano/A'Headphonso
every now and when - still do the trick!

& i would like to add a "Chapeau"
for the variety of styles/ tracks
on this one and the Eskimo compilation.

also the "what's gonna happened" ep
's got a steady spot
in my bag of good old black gold
