Hello, I connected my mixer to the soundcard, to record a dj set. I connected it to the analog IN using a RCA cable and 1/4" adaptors, and there is this noise in the back...that is like the noise induced from power lines.
The output signal from the mixer sounds ok in my PC (monitors).. but along with this unpleasant noise in the back.
I'm using Emu 0404 pci audio interface, and M-audio Studiophile BX-5 monitors.
When I connect the mixer to my old sound system it sounds good, with no noise.
Please tell me what can I do??

the convertors in the 0404 are crap. keep power leads away from audio leads.

ok convertes on the 0404 are bad but what this has to do with having power cables next to audio cables?

i think u have ground problems or radio interference!

u should ground ur mixer and as said avoid having audio next to power cables!

I think it's hard to avoid having audio next to power cables, since most audio devices work with electricity :S .. maybe you could explain it to me.
Anyways, the problem is gone. My mixer has 4 channels, and in channel 1 I had connected the audio of my dvd player, so I could hear the movies in my sound system. I unplugged the rca cable off channel 1 and the noise stopped inmediately.
I think that this demonstrate that energy knows no limits and that it's interconnected through everything..and since we are pure energy, we are all one. the thought of the day hehe.. thanks!

i have a 0404 myself sy, and the converters are shit i wouldn't say it if they weren't.
and trancedurex havn't you ever heard of feedback or crossed lines?
maybe i can put it in terms you can understand.....
when a POWER CABLE (in spastic terms your power supply to anything) crosses an AUDIO LEAD (again in spastic terms, eg your phono, jack leads goin to speakers or line ins etc) your speakers/recording will produce a hiss, its fuckin basic knowledge man.
