i have noise in my monitors... and its a little bit too anoing to ignore it...

i discovered that the noise in my monitors is the same noise my G5 produces, so like ex. if i load an audiofile i hear my disks turning in my monitor..
i've tried sepperating audio & power cables, cause i thought it would be interferance, but nit didn't work.
anyone has any suggestions?
could it be my soundcard? (m-audio audiophile firewire)

it can be your sound card.
does the G5 has another Firewire input? try changing the firewire ports.

more than that I cannot advice.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

If you're feeling brave you can try removing the earth connection in the power plug of the sound card. Make sure you bend the earth wire over and tape it back before you put the plug together again, as you don't want it just loose in the plug.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

I had exactly this problem once on my old setup - only that was a digital connection - it turned out to be an earth loop caused due to a difference in ground level between the soundcard and DAC.

Colins suggestion of disconnecting the soundcard ground may be the way to fix it - the soundcard will then ground via the speaker connections. Obviously this will invalidate your soundcard warranty!

Are you using balanced speaker leads? I think this might fix the problem.

I remeber that some G5 models had bad power supply units which injected noise into the audio, maybe you've one of those.

check the 'Back To The Garage' in this article

this is a general article about ground loops and other noisy stuff

wowowowow hold on there i wouldnot suggest it to anyone unless they have experience with electricity at least basic experience. because if that goes wrong, i say KABOOM... anyway there are a few more things to try before that...
