Are we not supposed to say our opinion in this forum, but only praise every artist, release or label, that get's promoted here?
I find it very sad to see that people that don't join the hype and actually dare to say that they don't like a particular release get hammered and told to shut up.
Of course critizism should be said in a respectful way, but the idea, that people who don't like something shouldn't reply and keep their opinion for themself is just pathetic.
I mean what is this place for? To exchange or to 'lick ass'??

If you don't lick ass then you get flamed for being negative.
Besides, if you want to get booked/get promos/discount list for parties/etc etc etc etc you have to lick ass.

And in general I find it very obvious, that there is a lot of hyping going on. I know that label owners and artits are sending PMs around to each other and also other users to make them reply to their topics and say that the realease is "killah".
It is a lot of 'licking ass' happening. People say something is great, just to get a positive reply to their own topic, or to maybe get a release with a certain label themself.
The "innocent" users are supposed to buy buy buy. We all know how bad the buisiness situation is going, so all means of promotion are accepted it seems.

Uh, I am not saying that moderators are excluded from not being supposed to say something "negative" about a release. Especially not if one is a reviewer like you prOfane. And to say something bad about IM or critizise anything concerning Isreal or israeli music is of course the worst thing you can do in here.... but that is going far too far now and I better roll a joint

Pointy, as long as people are not forced to say one thing or another, we cannot stop them from speaking their minds if its within forum guidelines.
what they choose to do is their choice. i used to be a party organizer, it would be hurtful for my future to criticize artists/compilations etc.. that i didnt like since i would perhaps need to book those artists one day, cause after all - people seem to like them.
since i have stopped doing that, i pretty much say what i want in a respectful way... its basic common sense if u ask me depending on your position in the industry.
at any rate, feel free to "let the bombs fly" on artists and tracks if you wish. please respect the guidelines though.

My issue wasn't to stop people from speaking their minds. On the contrary I would like to encourage people to actually say honestly what they think.
Of course people are free to "lick ass" if they want to, but they shouldn't attack others, that don't.
Telling somebody that critizeses a release to shut up, or that he/she shouldn't reply, is what I find pathetic. People have different opinions and should be able to express these without being accused of being negative. It is patronizing to be told to shut up and it gives the impression that there is no honest opinion wanted.

I believe that the opinions and views of each user of any forum is what make the forum a usefull place.
People just have to think before they press the "Quick Reply" bottom.
If there's a less agressive way to say things, why not?
And always be open to criticism. That is a important part of the feedback.
