It's a shame that there won't be any competition for cubase (just like the MS office price more than tripled after they eliminated their competition, as well as the development rate which slowed down a LOT).

you can always use Open Office (free)or Star Office - costs much less (CD price) or free - for download.
it opens MS word/Excel Powerpoint files.
as for cubase - i think what happened is:
if u want to enjoy using Logic - use Mac.

I never liked Logic anyways. I'm a Reason user.

fear not logic users on pc platforms. emagic will continue the development of logic for pc´s untill it reaches version 6. they don´t tell the full story on the webpage and have for some reason neglected to give this info so we still have between 1-2 years to go on he he i know i´m not changing platforms ever, too little power in macs these days they don´t think big enough |

If there will be Logic 6 for windows (I doubt it) - that'll be great - allthough I'm staying with 5.2 no matter what anyway!

If yo take for example 1Ghz PeeCee and 1Ghz Mac
you will see the difference in yo work with audio.
because they

He was talkin that today's latest PCs are stronger than latest Macs - yes even for audio. And from what I've heard from experienced mac-logic ppl, Logic works better on a PC than on a mac...(mostly stability and speed)
So yes, a mac is stable but it's still not the best. When they will start developing OSX in a more serious way, even for AMD chips, and making their Risc cpus faster, that will change the picture.
Logic for mac is going to be better for macs for sure.

I have the newest Logic and maybe you
right, but there is a reason why Cubase is
the most powerfull soft for music makers!!!
What is the latency of logic audio?
P.s
I hope you worked on Cubase SX before
you wrote that massage!
  Just listen... |

Yo , there is no specific "latency" for any
audio/midi program.
Latency depends on your own softwarez/hardwarez
combination only.
it's about yo computer,soundcard,ASIOdrivers . . .
Peace.

Modulization Logic 5.2 will be not less strong than SX (only u cant do multilink between logic boxes)
5.2 will have VSTI link its mean u open vsti and use it for couple of channels instead open vsti over and over
that will make logic work even smoother than now
and still leave u cpu and memory less loaded
i saw cubase sx working and still i prefer not to open it at all (not to harm all cubase users)
