Hi all, after writing music for the last 6 months with no midi in or out i thought i would turn to the trusty isratrance peeps to maybe help me out a little. Heres my problem...

I have a Quattro usb soundcard and for sometime now the midi hasnt worked. So finally i borrowed my friends Audiophile 24/96 pci card and installed it to see if midi would work on this. But it still didnt work. As midi controller im using a virus kc and my friendshas borrowed this and used it no problem for midi, so it not that.

What i wonder if is there is some setting within my PC, seperate from anything to do with soundcard drivers etc. that might have disabled midi, because after trying two different soundcards i can think of anything else! btw im using cubase sx3.

If anyone as any ideas i would love to hear them...thanks

Some things to try:

* Check Devices->Device Setup...->Midi | Do the midi ports show up there ?

* When you press a key on the keyboard does the Midi activity indicator in the transport go on ?

* Have you clicked the Monitor button on the Midi track you want to work ?

* Have you selected the correct Midi input and output on the track you are working on ?

Assuming that you have installed correctly both sound cards, first thing you have to do is to go to :

Control Panel => Sounds and Audio Devices => Audio and there you select the soundcard(Quattro or Audiophile) for Sound Playback, Sound Recording and Midi music playback. If you don't see your just installed soundcard(s) there, you didn't install them right.

Also check that you have not set Cubase to filter midi notes.           *In AjmaGard We Trust*
