until now i used only software.
even my last job i did it all with vsti.
but instead of buying a more powerfull
computer than my amd 1.2 i bought a used virus b.
it cost me 3700 shekels(740 $) about the price of a new computer.it can play 16 parts at ones(with good vsti i could use only 8 at one time)
but the quality of the sounds is absoultly amazing. you might be able to create everything on computers but theres nothing that comes close to the sounds of good hardware syths(i'm not talking about cheap synths like korg ea-r or yamaha an 200 ).
also the better the software synths gets the more cpu they take , so for the near future, at least until p4 3 or more giga comes out ,
i'm going hardware.

listen guys... with all the respect to the computer all the soundcards and all the best and newest software you use... its all digital!
i dont say its low quality or something, its great and it can be better than many pro synths that costs lost of cash. but digital will never be analog its just the way of life hehe
a Real Moog with good Avalon or Manely stuff will always sound better then computer.
i think computer is very good if you know how to use it but when you make music lots of time and start to 'Feel' the waves of the sounds you understand that there are sounds that you just cant do with computer and need that analog touch.. but this will cost alot.. and maybe its just better for us to do the Almost analog sound from computer than to pay all that money.. |

ok , your computer's sound quality - it's all about AD/DA conversion , and you can create almost every sound you can imagine on VSTi's .
About all that "analogue touch" there is a lot of knob&fader boxes with midi to touch the sound in realtime .
But anyway vintage analogue and valve will always sound better than digital 10011100101's, it's just about personal taste and style. |
