Well Jason, if you want to create your own music and not only contribute ideas to other ppl (which is great), you should start making some noise with fruity loops 3. You will be surprised of the good audio quality. And for the musical quality, it's all about the composer ;-)...

I have fruity 3, but im still learning. it's hard for a guitar player to move to stuff like synths and sound mods and stuff like that, but im learning. slowly but surely.

The link for Fruity loops 3's demo manual:

http://www.fruityloops.org/demos/Manual3.1.demo.zip

I know it doesn't include a lot of info, but it's better than nothing assuming you don't have the full manual and you're not a registered user.

Hope i helped,
Tom.

I like the plucked effect too :-).
Try it using the arpeggiator on a minor chord. It reminds me classical mushroom.

Ohhh, I feel your pain man... I've been composing music on the computer for 9 years, and while in Melbourne (I'm still in Australia), I visited a friend that works with equipment.

It's very nice that all of the people here are cheering you on to do your best, but if you want a real powerful and minimalistic groove, get a synth.

So many tracks that all they required was that vibe in the bass which the computer never gets... no matter how many plugins you got on Sound Forge, no matter what program you use to create them... :(

But just remember - the limits on working with computers are getting smaller and smaller - 7 years ago, impulse tracker was the best thing available to run on PCs if you wanted to work pure software.

Today - we have a wide range starting from mixers to softsynths whith decent quality.

Who knows - maybe the computer will one day replace all of the virtual analogs (it will never replace the analog stuff, I just won't hear it :))

But until then - all we have to do is wait, and do our best, and buy synths =)

peace

How about "goa" style jason? I got a full 90 minute tape of "goa" ideas, but it's "vocal" -meaning i get an idea in my head and immediately record the princip of the track on tape.
And the last time i recorded was about 2 months ago, and it's all there! One day the time will come and i'll do an album. So maybe before you get the chance to do what you want maybe you should try the same thing. I mean, i was getting these idea flashes for about a straight half a year. And now i stopped for a while, but the beauty is that you aren't sorry about getting something great and than forgetting about it.

BOM!!

Listen jason...
I know what you feel believe me because I also
worked in a computer like you!

I took myself a 2-3 miutes to read all the masseges you got so far and I have only one thing to say to you:

- A software is good but it will never be as good
as a hardware...take a time and get to know
the fruity as good as you can because this
software is based on many synti machines...

- After the time will pass...buy yourself a midi!

-  GOOOOOOOD LUUUUUUUUUUCK !!
