no matter what bugs you say windows have...
its million times better then linux.
i tried Redhat and Mandrake and its FULL of bugs.
not to mention the fact that u need to "compile" everything you want to use..
WTF ?
linux is still a programmers os.
its the least user freindly OS there is...
and ever since win2k and for sure XP, Microsoft's OS's kicks ass.

dude wake up...
this is 2003.
xp sp1 and win2k sp3 are great products.
this is not win95.
this is not win98.
this is not fucking winme !!!
almost no crashing of the os.
almost no bugs.
i never turn off my pc.
its alive ever since i got it 3 months ago.
every game and app works great.
microsoft took time but they did it.
as for linux.
as i said.
in the past i tried Redhat and Mandrake.
last month i tried Mandrake again to see if there are improvments.
well.
Linux sux.
its an OS only for programmers.
WTF you need to compile every software you want to use ?
this is stupid.
so un friendly to the user.
and many bugs too.
and i dont even want to talk about hebrew...
Linux is LAME, just as i remembered it was 2 years ago.
right now at 2003, IMO, Microsoft's os's are the best for home user.

Well a few days ago I installed Mandrake linux 9.1 to my laptop and guess what..

It now runs a lot faster than on WinXp or 98SE.. Now I can actually watch all those divx and xvid movies..

More than that Mandrake has better support for my hardware than Windows had.. especially under XP I had a lot of issues with my CD-ROm. It took over 70 minutes to copy a movie from cd to the hd!!! Now it takes approximately 4 minutes.. Other than that Mandrake is really easy to use.. especially under Gnome 2.2 .. I didn't need to install any new appz since it already has open office, xmms, and xine media player (that supports by default xvid, mpeg, divx, ogg, ac3 & so on)

so linux was the better option for me..           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

it's endless discussion might be
show me windows server of any version that is capable to run on PII computer with 128MB
keep chat server, intensive ftp mirroring and ftp hosting with uptime for more then years
i doubt
may be windows is more stable then it was but it still requires lot of resources, good expensive hardware as well as it still sucks;)

i want to see u establish isratrance with forums on some nt server and make it working for years;)

besides Kernel belongs to *nix;)
look at MacOS-X f.e.

ok i checked it out...
at http://www.winehq.com
look at this:

Graphics :
Partial DirectX support for games (Direct3D missing)

that means almost every new game will NOT work.
almost every new game today needs direct3d to play.
some come with openGL (lots of older games) and probably it works under wine.
but i wont count on it.
games are made in order to run under windows.
oh and lets not make anders angry and put an sign.

Wako, cool down dude, before I will take out the heavy weapons

Probably you don't know what Linux is, and what its posibilities. The heck is that you need much more knowledge in computers to use Linux instead of M$ products.
I've got two computers running RedHat Linux 9, one at home and one at work, both of them :

Linux Stalker.versedge.com 2.4.20 #2 Tue Apr 8 14:01:12 IDT 2003 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

I've got some hard things to tell you, if you got no ass to deal with Mandrake even, which is for now probably the most simple distribution, so probably you better stay with M$ who will overule you soon. Mandrake SUXXXXXXX, RedHat pretty good, but Gentoo RULZZZZ. You just need to be smart enough and patient enough to get the computer working the way you want and not the way you are supposed to work with it by any OS manufacturer.

Linux is scaring you, the main-streamers, you are going with the wave. "oh, all my friends already tried linux, so why the hell i didn't?" "let me check some mainstream disribution, however I already know that it will not work for me." Make some checks, try it for more that one hour. RTFM !!!

As for games, Wine is not only emulation system can be used on Linux. You should check http://www.transgaming.com for WineX. As for Wine most windows applications will work perfect, including IE and Kazaa. And if you really like games - buy Playstation 2 ( which by the way running LINUX in it's kernel too )...

SO if you want to use Linux, check what distribution suits you more and what are your needs from the computer. After that make a decision and install Linux, and just start working, I'm sure you will found all needed applications without recompiling them in a month. Linux is not LAME, the stupid users who don't know what they are talking about are LAMERS, however.

Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.
