As much as I don't enjoy Apple's business practices IMO they nailed the tablet thing. The price for the entry level model is not exorbitant, they have a ton of really great music apps....and that's all I'm interested in.
Sure, some day iphone/ipad apps may run on android...and some day there might be an android tablet that is as good as the ipad for around the same price.
Anymore these days I'm really sick and tired of dealing with technical shit, I want stuff to just work so I can make music and not dick around in menus and searching through tech forums trying to get some piece of equipment to work.
I feel that's what the non-ipad app version of touch screen Omnisphere would be like at the moment. Spend a little bit less money, get a lot less capability and a lot more stress.
Plus...ipad only Korg MS-20 app! WANT

Interesting indeed abt Omnisphere.
So a quick q.. When you buy Omnisphere... your able to control it through ipad...? Or there is also a seperate Omni app for Ipad? If so, are there any limitations?..
Forgive my ignorance, but been reading so much abt the Ipad functionalities and the various apps for live/studio setups... seems like a tool that one cannot miss! So seriously considering one!

If you have an ipad there is a free Omni app for it that has a performance based interface - so yes you control the full running Omnisphere VST with the ipad app
Though I don't think that you can go in and edit patches in it...not sure though. Need to get an ipad.

Free App ??!! Thats heavy. But will it still have all the functionalities of the original software, minus lets say editing patches?

I'm not 100% sure, as I've not played with it - all the information I have is what I got from watching the youtube video.
What I gather is this:
Say you're running ableton. You have Omnisphere VST loaded into a MIDI track. If you wanted to you could go in and edit patches and do all of the stuff you want with a mouse/trackpad etc.
Let's say hypothetically you're doing a live performance and you already have 8 patches loaded into Omni that are ready to go (Omni is 8 part multi timbral so you can have 8 patches within each instance of Omni) - the iPad app has a couple of screens that give you performance based controls over each of those patches and allows you to loop/latch, mix, control the Orb feature, adjust resonance/cutoff/other parameters that you set, pitchbend etc etc.
So it doesn't have all of the functionalities; only the ones you need when you're performing. At least that's how its supposed to work.
Dunno if that was needlessly overexplaining but yeah.

They had an iphone app called Omni Live for iphone but I think it has been depreciated and is no longer available on the store. They put all the eggs in the ipad basket now. : Some day.... some day... (fathers day perhaps?)
The website still seems to be operational

Really, wasn't much to it past calling up presets. The ipad app is muuuuuch more interesting.
