So, fellow soft-synth junkies, I have the cash to spend and after a new bike for the season, I want a new toy.

I love Native Instruments a lot (I have extensively used Massive and Absynth, though they were 'try before you buy' versions and thus buggy as all hell) and have heard great things about the quality of samples in the Kontact library; as well, Battery is awesome for drums, Reaktor is something I would LOVE to learn over the next few years, Absynth and Massive are both fantastic sound design tools.

BUT I have also been told by pretty much the entire world that I have to get Omnisphere. It does sound amazing, but it's comparably priced to the giant package that is NI Komplete.

Thoughts?           Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room. ~Kurt Vonnegut

Well, I have NI Komplete 7, and it can do everything I could ever want. It`s a whole world in itself, you can get by just using Komplete and nothing else.

I dont know Omnisphere, but I can`t imagine it can do all the tings Komplete can.           Check out my album: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/gay-satanic-hippie-tiefenrausch

I got omnisphere... It's awsome. Altho it takes up alot of disc space.

Don't know if it's possible, but you could try a demo of them both?           www.xun.dk / myspace.com/xundk

i've tried most of the native instruments projects on their own.

omnisphere i have less experience with, but i've heard some of its results - merely from presets - and it sounds fucking fantastic.           Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room. ~Kurt Vonnegut

some psytrance, mostly psychedelic dubstep/breaks/genre-bending now thought - still with a dancefloor focus, but more freeform.

that's the style these days.

Yeah i would really like to work more with omnisphere, but i cannot afford it sadly now.
But both things are great and with Komplete you got great sounds as well and massive possibilities.           -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.-

I would go for NI bundle.

Omnisphere, though it has some acoustic patches, is focused on electronica. It has lots of great patches and i love it for its ease of use and great sound quality. Same time Komplete gives you much more. With all its synth like Reaktor, Massive, FM8 and Absynth, it has Kontakt 4, which is huge for many things. I use it a lot for creating stuff like that:

I mean they pay me for that sort of things.
And even if you don't need those things in your production it is always nice to have a huge library of acoustic instruments in your pocket to implement them in electronic production.

And btw, I liked the track! Very nice kick. Reminded me of Ott's production a bit, but dirtier.

Haha, Makus, is the first one the intro to a news show on TV? Sounds totally like it...

And the second one sounds like the soundtrack for a commercial for insurances, where something horrible happens to an old person and the trusted insurance company comes in and helps!           Check out my album: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/gay-satanic-hippie-tiefenrausch

Well, that was for tv yes, but this were soundtracks for promotional ads for EURO2012 cup which is going totake place in ukraine and that's where I live. Have to say that I did those tracks in 2008, when Komplete 5 was available. Now it is Komplete 7 and it sounds better.

Actually, that still sounds surprisingly good!

That's my main draw for Komplete, really - a ready sample library of real world/ethnic/funky/strange instruments at my fingertips.

I think i'll probably give Komplete a try, then. Reaktor is just too... fucking cool to pass up a chance to learn (slowly, lol). And I really should fess up and pay for Massive after a year or so of using it, sigh.

And I'm glad you liked the tune, dude ! Sounding "a bit like Ott" is a great compliment in my world. You'll hear plenty more soon!           Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room. ~Kurt Vonnegut

Hehe, and in reality... I do have the cash for Omnisphere AS WELL, i'm just trying to avoid impulse buying more tools than I can learn at once.           Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room. ~Kurt Vonnegut
