Hello folks.
i got Nexus (ReFx vst) a couple of weeks ago, and i been playing around with it.
but since then, i been looking for a waveform control, or some kind of oscillator control.
and there is none! or at least none that i can find.
so my question is: is there oscillation control in nexus?           Love is Life

no there isn't. Imo nexus is the biggest wannabe synth around. It looks like it's just made of a bunch of samples which you can tweak in a very minimal way (filters, arpeggiator, some efx).           http://www.soundcloud.com/bandarlog

Exactly, it is just a big sample bank. Avoid any "Synth" that comes on a DVD and takes several gigs...

I surely don't agree, Nexus has a FAT sound, and you can do with it many awsome things, it is up to your skills.

I got excellent arpeggios and leads out of Nexus, super pads as well.           www.myspace.com/enertopiapsy

Enertopia man, but can you change anything about the sound inside nexus itself (i mean without other equalization and fx and stuff)?
because i really like some sounds, but i would really like to be able to change stuff...
thx for the info guys           Love is Life

I dunno man, I like making my sounds from the initial patch, and if I can't change the oscillator or rig up some crazy stuff, I really don't wanna deal with it. If I wanted to tweak existing sounds, I'd use the samples that I already have... I've never been the biggest fan of most ROMplers... Stylus rmx is about the only one of those I use...           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

nexus

samplers rox! specialy this 3

synthable or not , they sound more then great to make great tunes with.
beside i always think the preset thing is the easy part , and make something nice with it is the harder.           www.sattelbattle.com

and what so original taking saw wave and adjust the envelopes?
"samplers" like nexus is actually sample based synth (well not really synth becasue theres no osc) with major quality because they dont produce the wave itself but sampled from quality analog gear.
there is nothing really original these days..

I kinda like nexus...I dont really get sounds to my liking out of it for dance music (except maybe some pads or fx), but for chillout its really good!

anyway, you can change the sound very much with layering and heavy processing...and overall, nexus has a fat sound like shachar said           https://soundcloud.com/hazak

"Have you ever had that feeling where you're not sure if you're awake or still dreaming?"
"Hmm, yeah... All the time, man - it's called mescaline. The only way to fly!"

yeah, making music with romplers is a bad deed indeed... (part of the reason why i almost dont use samples, i only use samples for drums and vocals and such, all other sounds are synths)
but overall, there are some nice, common sounds there, like a really clear sounding piano, or pizzicatos, and such.
it can be really great when used correctly (try lowering the volume and panning it to the right and playing a little accompanying melody on a nexus piano, it sounds really nice)
btw, yeah, its great for ambient and downtempo and such especially with the expansions

..wow Nexus is GREAT and can deliver realy astonishing fat sounds if one knows how to use it. at first glance it seems almost non-automatable. I mean its not like Vanguard that you can automate all parameters easily and directly. But if you get familiar how to work with the "modulation matrix" you'll be really surprised how the original patch can be transformed to absolutely diferent sounds, but still maintaining its Fatness. Learn to work and Automate in the Modulation matrix. There you can change Gate parameters, arp parameters, and much more. Also try to use Nexus for Bass. but make your bass lines with the arpegiator. U'll be surprised! add some fatness with the internal dist. boost some low freqs with the internal EQ and wow...
A sotware can be criticized only if one knows it profoundly...           Sound:
