hey geeks,

i recently thought about how things would evolve if kinect technology was integrated into my laptop. i found kinect seems not to be the state of the art solution and found the leap motion controller.

https://www.leapmotion.com/

while i think in future this will in fact be integrated into computers, this device seems to offer VERY precise controlling possibilities AT PRESENT. now, apple seems not been interested so far integrating this device into OSX (guess will just be matter of time). sadyl... it would be just so kind to control my vst knobs by hand without the need for a controller

anyways, leap motion seems yet to be very precise, the apps and the computer beeing the problem. this device is only about 80 bucks and should work on most intel computers of todays standard with a minimum of 2 gb ram.
reviews showed this minimum is not quite efficient and in fact the calculating process eats most dual core 4gb ram machines. apps seem not to apply the movements smoothly.

all reviews i read were about controlling things like a browser, picture previews, office like programs and alike. soooo, imo theres a lot of things to bare in mind for these apps. this is totally different to a midi controlling app, which is available in their airspace shop here:

https://airspace.leapmotion.com/apps/geco-midi/osx

i didnt have a look for pc version or stuff, might be theres something similiar. anyways, this app got great reviews and seems to operate nice and smootly with the leap motion device.

conclusion, you got a crazy geek midi controlling device or lets say 100 bucks... with huge potencial development in future... well, i thought its kinda sad you want that now and in maybe two years it will be standard of controlling any computer. fkk that, 100bucks just´s fine fo that ^^

anyone tried or thought about that too??           FUCK GENRES, LOVE MUSIC!!!!

was really excited about this until I saw the wave of user reviews saying it was really buggy and inaccurate.

I think it's super awesome but I will wait for the next generation/iteration before purchasing.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

naahhhh got me ^^ found that one too, might be even more fun, anyways one has to wait.

i agree on the reviews, but like said, if you take a closer look, each review is about apps which need further adjustment to work smooth. it´s the apps not the device. this is a commpletely different story to the midi app, which got only gr8 reviews and seems to work like a charm.

i´ll wait for myo and try`em both ...           FUCK GENRES, LOVE MUSIC!!!!

Mandari: a midi app is not complicated to code yourself. Making a controller app for a flying drone is probably more complicated.

hey dude,

thanks for the hint, as for geco the reviews led me to think it might work. i like that idea for sure, myo seeming to be even more delicious.

matter of time i guess. apple included kinda that into their new macpro, microsoft´s hardly playin round with their kinect... soo i give it like let´s say two to three more years and it will be standard in any computer ...           FUCK GENRES, LOVE MUSIC!!!!

this would bring the theramine to someone using a simple software synthesizer, provided this person would know how to program a simple patch that is! cool stuff!

there's a lot going on on this department! check this out:
