I am not sure if all have read it, it was posted a month ago and i happen to read it while looking for psy articles in the net. Maybe some havent read it, it talks about the roles of vision quest and parties at Rising Phoenix and Comfee. Very open minded society to make an article on it, i thought no one cared to even write an article on a psy nite, props to you Nihon-Jin

Here is a skimp -
"The indoor psychedelic trance season has yet another big party left in it before the madness moves outdoors. Meanwhile, everyone's favorite expat haunt in Shibuya is looking to shake up Thursday nights..."

I dont want to be negative and all but I must say a few things about articles like this...This article is not the first or the last to apear in "metropolis". The organizers however and in MY OPINION are doing the scene an injustice by advertising their parties in magazines like this...It is my opinion that this is what brings the "Shibuya girls and guys" type Japanese crowd that is really ruining the scene and bringing needlesss heat on the scene by the cops...Back in the late 90's no advertising to this extent was done and the parties were better. ALL I am saying is please stop advertising these gatherings to the "mass japanese public", the parties and the music are religious and sacred to me and I think that the "out of control shibuya gals crowd" has ruined enough already...please keep it underground as much as possible in todays TOkyo. peace

Kind of getting hard to keep these parties underground lately.
But there are still a lot of underground parties around. You just have to look for them.
Adverstising like this in japan will for sure change the scene. For now it seems to be changing it into a bad scene, but who knows maybe something will change in the future and the scene will get better.
For now this scene in japan is hopeless... Too much mafia, too many drugged up young kids, giving this whole scene a bad image.
Everytime somebody asks me what music i listen to, I answer psy trance, and automatically they think im some drugged up person...
help this scene...

Don't worry kowens- the parties that you hold as sacred will not be desecrated by these people- they do something different from what you love. Like Hikari said, the underground scene is thriving, just gotta find it. , The commercial parties will just continue to evolve their own way. I don't think they threaten each other at all- most people who go to the big parties dont know about the underground parties and the people who go to underground parties for the most part don't care for the huge parties. I think the huge parties and the crowd it has been drawing (not to mention violent acts that happen there) have alienated the most loyal followers.

But Hikari and Kowens I agree that the kids who go only to get drugged up are really harming the scene by bringing unwanted police attention and helps create a negative stereotype. At least this article did not try to cast a negative light on the scene, as most mainstream publications attempt to do.

Kowens, if you want to go to some really nice underground parties with the vibe you are looking for, PM me later my friend....

Sorry if i had disturbed you kowens But sometimes i do not understand, without ads, who would people know about the parties? Where are these main underground parties located around in major regions in Japan? And how does word of mouth get passed around about it?

Yes, it's a difficult situation. If parties hadn't been at least a little overground, I may not have ever found out about them. However, there needs to be a balance. Advertising parties on prime time TV and in major magazines and newspapers is not a good idea, I feel. The most prized gems are those that are rare and hard to find.

you cannot 'find' the prized jems, you just have to be connected. The best parties are ones where everyone is connected, if not directly then at the most separated by one degree.
To answer your question ChoBo, word of mouth gets passed around directly in person, or by thhe telephone. There are no flyers for randoms to pick up, and definitely no articles in Metropolis!
When you come to Japan Chobo, we will go to some of these.
