just start playing with it there are no short cuts anything technical you need to know you can learn from tutorials or this forum. Everything else has to come from within you and the only way youll find it is by making track after track till one day damn I like that and so do other people. just keep going no matter how annoying or impossible it might seem. every failed track is experience under your belt.

Hi psy_enzyme!

Trust me, we've all been in your shoes.. we all started somewhere and therefore I say trust me again that there are no shortcuts.
FaceHead is right, I'll try and explain why because I remember the frustration over this type of replies back when I asked the same questions....

See, the thing is that when you look for people to tell you exactly how to make a bass, a lead or whatever there is a great risk that you don't quite understand how everything works. As a result you start to block yourself in with rules: this guy told me this, the other guy told me that... follow me? The problem with this is that there are no universal rules, every track is different and there are no formulas that work.

You just have to play with the tools you have, learn them, read on the forum, focus on a specific thing at a time, and make track after track.
What's so good about this is that it will make you understand what's going on.. how everything works together, and along the way you will have lots of 'aha' moments - I guarantee that if you try hard enough. It just takes a lot of time.. if you're very talented perhaps a bit less, but in general A LOT of time and you must not give up even when sometimes you may feel that you're not progressing.

A couple of years ago I would curse at a reply like my own now, and it might not seem very helpful to you but I promise you it is good advice....

Oh.. and as far as details about production etc... everything you need to know and more is available on this forum, it just takes some long hours of reading and experimenting.

Good luck to you!
