hi..i am very new to making music and trying to make a psy trance track..But i can`t seems to get the baseline..And when i try to get in a lead melody the baseline and the lead wont fit together. i also think the lead comes in to suddenlyquickly that it don`t fit or something. It sounds like a chaos.I am using fruity loops.
Can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong?
how can i make a baseline which fit the lead and still sound like a typical psy baseline? here is two mp3 files which i am working on,both of them i cant seems to make a lead.
i am stuck so any tips, help etc is appreciated.

After watching some tutorials i learned lots of new stuff and got a better understanding on psy trance song structure..It seems like the bassline i made where to "advanced" for me to make a lead with..I am now working on a new track with better structure..
Is there any good sites with psy tutorials out there?

Ok heres some tips first i like how your tunes are loud thats verry good but the mix is unbalenced and your lead overpower the kick and bass in the first track your second track need more groove so add some bass variations and keep it groovy
1 (EQ) Hipass filter all your leads till 600 max 500 is where i stop also cut the frequencies at 20hz so you have space for your hi hats...Also hi pass filter you hi hats they will become sharper
2 .Progressive trance is not always about melodies its got to do with progression so keep it simple rather try having a few notes talk to one another and keep on adding simple sounds kinda like one shots or Questions and awnsers
id look at sidechaining your bass to your kick. Im not fruity user so can't tell u how, but there will be help on youtube to show you. The style your writing is slowish tempo, so try some delay on the bass, and on some percussion. Youve got a basic good groove going on , I wouldn't worry about leads yet, get some pads, atmospheres, arpeggiated synths, layer up some parts and look at melody once you've got a solid base of a track down
Thanks..but to be onest i am really uncertain on the difference of pads arpeggiated synths etc or what it is.Maybe it is a turorial on this to somewhere? i really dont know what to search for.
The bass is sidechained on those tracks but i found a better way to do it now.Eq did a lot a difference on my new project, the different instrument is much clearer but one sound(using the word sound in lack of knowing if it is a lead or a back melody etc) overpower another in the end.what do you think so far? it`s not great but i think it is a good improvement..
140bpm more like a full on psy.
Hey, don't be too hard on yourself, psy trance IMO is the hardest dance genre to pull off at a good standard. Keep doing what your doing, keep reading and watching vids, forums etc. I am....I have been trying to write Twilight /full on for about 2 years, only now am I happy with my kick and bass. I struggle with leads and synths, your not alone!
Your latest clip is sounding nice. The kick and bass is not far off, a real difference to ur first post...i would say try a fuzz or the free Audio Damage "CRUSH" plug in on the bass insert.Just gives it a bit of edge that cuts through. The bass is Twilight/full on in the latest clip above.
The the thing I would say, is decide what genre the track is going to be, and listen to loads of tracks in that genre The synths and leads above are more housey/prog trance, although they are good, they dont go with the K&B. ... you should use them in a house track 128bpm, would sound nice!!
140 bpm is more of a main room trance bpm. full on that I listen to is 146-148 bpm.Not that there are any rules to this, you can do anything, at any bpm
Check out artists like Rabbdom L, Deliriant, Rubix Qube....listen to the sounds they use. Don't be afraid to use harsh/ aggressive sounds, loads of distortion, bit crushing, filtering etc delays ....
Thanks again,very helpful.
I am using v-station vanguard and sylenth1.
a audiodamage software,i have camelcrusher i can use.if that is what you mean.
I found some tracks on youtube from Deliriant, Rubix Qube but not Rabbdom L.
Cool, yeah just keep playing, , got some good synths there, get them playing some midi parts, and just move the synths parameters, like lfo filter cut off etc, record the movements, bounce back into project as audio, stick some fx like camelcrusher (theres some good free ones as well)on it, chop it up , reverse it .....yada yada..
