HI all
my wife & I are planning (early stages) to visit New York for 2 weeks in early October this year.
My wife has some knowledge on place she wants to check out like museums, art galleries & of course shopping.
I firstly would like to ask what is a good web site for researching and booking hotels? We are looking to stay in the city centre (Manhattan i guess).
I secondly would like to ask what places are good for night life? I'd like to check out some jazz type bars, and also if anyone know about the house/techno club scene would be cool as well.
Also, in New York is there any good shops for CD buying? I'd be keen to check out some second hand places to see if i can find any rare gems, and also new stuff to hunt down edition that are over priced here in Australia as "Imports".
I'd be keen for a psy trance experience, kinda hoping Mr Ott or Simon P might be touring around then.

cool man, hope you have a good time.
for researching hotels i would definitely say that tripadvisor.com is the best. also, yelp.com would be a great resource for researching restaurants, bars, stores, etc.
good call in wanting to check out jazz bars. I'm sorry to admit that in my travels there i've only gone to trance/rave type stuff. You should check out one of the landmark jazz clubs like Birdland, Blue Note, Arthurs Tavern, etc.
I think Greenwich Village will be your best bet for CD shopping. just walk around a bit there and you're sure to find some cool shops...or check out yelp.
not sure what trance stuff will be happening, but just keep your eye on the north america forum. and hey, if you're going to be there on the 8th, maybe you'll want to rent a car or something and drive out to COSM for the full moon gathering. not sure if you're an Alex Grey fan or not, but if you're from the other side of the planet you might want to seize the opportunity to go hang out at this psychedelic haven.
I'm certainly no expert on New York, so keep digging

Thanks Vector, will keep it all in mind. I'm not 100% sure if we go this year due to some things in life popping up but hopefully we do
