Don't waste time on audiojungle, I produce music for documentaries, hip-hop rappers, cheesy house music for singers and stuff like that, audiojungle only works if you have A LOT of tracks or you have connections inside. Try to register on other stock music websites, audiojungle takes you 70% if you are not exclusive and 50% if you are, total ripoff.
I've had tracks that took like 2 weeks to get accepted... and free jazz tracks that were refused because the chords were "out of key" lol.
Also, you have no acess to the emails of your costumers on audiojungle.

Best advice is to make your own store, like me and my friend did, you take 100% profit, you make contacts with companies and artists for a long lasting business relatioship as they contact you directly and there is no one turning down your work (we have sold many tracks that were refused there)

About this topic, 100% scam no doubt           Free album out now:

I just checked out audiojungle, having sold a few tracks for tv shows, movies, docus etc. I can say with conviction that 33% on a non exclusive basis is total ripoff! And anything sold exclusively ought to give you a sync fee upfront, no matter what!

I am currently working with two publishers, and hopefully a third soon, and I can say with conviction that it takes a lot of time each time a contract is made until both sides are happy.

Lets face it, the music industry is the most cutthroat industry on the planet, and they will tell you god knows what, but if you know the industry standard and make that clear to them you can very quickly find out if they're scammers or for real!

By now I have dealt with a few publishers, some correct after I told them what my expectations are, some not, none of them were correct upfront!!!           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

Ellaborate on this please? Is Bandcamp what one should be looking for? I am cluless about these things...and the idea of selling an album for like 1€ is intriguing to me and potential buyers.

Serious publishers and music directors don't look at bandcamp, unless you happen to already have established relationships with them... the way to those is long and arduous...

really going to bed now...

Thats not true. I am on Audiojungle and you dont need inside connect to sell. I agree with you that the rates arent the best but the other sites make you sign contracts with them and their layout sucks for buyers. The top seller on AudioJungle has 20,000 plus sales - he has 43 items in his portfolio..hes been there for like 4 years..he made mad cash. Tracks now get accpeted in 2-3 days time and they are working on letting us know who buys our tracks.           www.soundcloud.com/kabbalisticvillage

@Nectarios: bandcamp can work to sell music with artistic value, doesn't work too well to license tracks for business. What I meant is you build your own website, I'm sure you have seen quite a few mastering and mixing websites like this, it is the same but with stock music selling exclusive and leasing licenses.

You will have to learn e-commerce marketing, build a newsletter, invest in online ads... it's really long road in the first 3 months but when you start to sell tracks it's very gratifying, especially because you know you have created something from scratch.
Biggest business in online music licensing is probably hip-hop instrumentals from what I gathered in the last year or 2, cheesy progressive house is getting really big too.
For companies and ads, corporate uplifting music is huge in stock music websites.

The business is pretty much controlled by stores and producers based in the USA / UK / australia, so it is a really capitalist market with all the types of licenses and all, and the artists getting riped off most of the times...

@kabbalisticvillage: tim morris is really good with uplifting corporate music, he is an exception, and I still think there must some kind of contract going on behind, getting featured etc... It's really hard to get noticed in the main page because theres only that small icon with new tracks.

I've also found out you can buy almost everything, like reviews, getting featured, recommended, etc, at least in the biggest social networks for producers in the USA for hip-hop instrumentals like soundclick, myflashstore, rocbattle, beatbrokerz, etc.
There are guys selling like 2000 hiphop instrumentals every month, because they have been doing this since 2002-2003.

And with this I wrote too much sorry LOL           Free album out now:

most people that buy on audiojungle tend to sort the items by sales or rate...

I dont think there are any deals going on with Tim. there are plenty of top sellers on AudioJungle. the top ten all have over 10,000 sales..you just have to work at it. Listen for me its a start and maybe for you guys to. These other sites expect 3-4 year contracts..eventually i would like to work straight with a music publisher though.           www.soundcloud.com/kabbalisticvillage
