Sure nice,... but not much new ideas for an upgrade isn't it? Some new fx....C'mon, you can do that with some vst or some kaoss pad or something,... |

Its just an OS update, not a new Virus. OS updates add some cool features and that's about it. They would not give a completely new sounding synth away for free.

me cant wait to see when waldorf will release the Stromberg.. if its to spend so much money, should be the best synthesizer in that price range and TI doesnt worth all that money at all imho..

nope. you can get 2-3 soft synths (like Reaktor 5, Zebra 2, Albino 3...etc) that sound just as good (better imho) and some good compressor/EQ plugs. much better over all sound for the cash. which is the thing that most people never think about when they are saving up for the Virus, thinking that somehow their tunes will sound fantastic once they get it.

I think its not a hardware update, it doesnt look like it anyway, but maybe it is. And hold your horses about downloading the new OS for free. You might have to pay a small amount for it...would be lame if you have to considering the TI's price tag.

The OS Updates are normally free so i dont see why this would be any different - but you never know.
Also one thing you DONT get with any of the soft synths you mentioned is hardware knobs, 0 latency and the feel of a real piece of kit - which is worth the money imo.
However i also understand that the virus is limited, as is all hardware and things like Reaktor 5 can leave it standing for pure possibilities but the native sound quality of the TI is 24bit and sounds pristine so you would also need a good soundcard along with your vst`s but still far cheaper than the TI for sure.
I am NOT a hardware is better or software is better dood i love them all - they ALL TICKLE MY FANCY - OOOOOERRR !! :P

They are releasing a new hardware version of the Virus.... If you just watch the video on the homepage you can see that they all look slightly different than they did before.
Also they are talking about how it is more light weight and how it has 25% more processing power.

There's knobs on midi controllers already and most budget soundcards have really low latency nowdays + good 24bit/192khz converters (my Saffire does).
Anyhow, fair play for people that like the TI, its what they like and its a good all around synth. I just would not spend so much cash to get another soft synth in a fancy case with knobs and blinking lights, that's all.

Aha. Lets see if they have any better sounding oscillators and filters. I hope they've sorted the ring mod and distortion out.
