I wouldn't be so sure actually on aliasing.

Yes, sure, aliasing sounds very very digital and gives the game away instantly on sound source ... but it can also sound great.

For example the Prophet VS aliased quite horrendously ... and is viewed as one of the best synths of all time by a lot of people. It was used on countless movie soundtracks. In fact, it was the primary weapon on a lot of movie soundtracks. It is quite possible to argue that the aliasing was a big part of that sound, and contributed to the 'complexity' of the tones it could and did often produce.

Aliasing free being 'better quality' is a highly subjective thing. Just because digital has strived since its inception to sound analog doesn't mean that things that sound very digital actually sound bad. In fact, a lot of the time, the exact opposite is true.

As for Vanguard. Good learner synth, but IMO that is where it stops.

I disagree. Vanguard acid leads still rock and the synth has a very unique sound that I like. And it can still make some big sounds.           www.musicproductionnatural.com || www.facebook.com/djamoeba | facebook page

I never liked the sound of it. Horses for courses.

However, whether we can agree or not over Vanguard imparts nothing to the point I made on aliasing.           .

I have heard something regarding a new version of Vanguard as well.
Can't recall it though as where I picked up that information, maybe it was at Kvraudio.com, but I'm not too sure about it.

They loose - or at least Vanguard does. I'm sitting on something IMO that is better. And I'm trying to be unbiased. Not easier. Hell no. But better.

Gimme two weeks.

On the other hand, even Vampyromorphida sounds better than Vanguard to my ears...

So I guess I feel I was there and better two years ago.          .

On the other hand - maybe vanguard can produce a supersaw sweep this fat without external effects and I've been deluding myself ... any takers ... no?

Here is my new 'Thargoid' synth engine. Enjoy.

wow... phat indeed... tryed to create a similar saw in vanguard just to feel how weak it is... even with multivoice and drive the filter just doesn't sound nice wheen sweeping it... btw what kind of filter did u use? similar sound in vanguard is bandpass 24 but i believe it is too narrow.

I took some time to listen to diference between aliased and no aliased mode and understood what you meant... i believe Refx says it sounds better beacause it softens the sound a lot and make those osc creamy and smooth but there are many who preffer the harsh sound of aliased sound.

So, i guess you win...

Any other suggestions for 'aliased' softsynth sounds better than vanguard?

Seriously now though, I really like this patch for vanguard though. Not the cleanest, but it just sounds great to me.
