In zebra you can have endless OSC Presets for example.
i created 51 OSC presets from some very good quality Samples from the University of Iowa.
You can download them here:

maybe you find them usefull..
cheers

hm, i think it is subjective to say u-he doesn`t sound as good as NI or Lennard, i cannot confirm this. Ace is really analog sounding and zebra is not less impressive than lennard. But maybe matter of taste, i see no big difference but ok.

yes i think it s about taste i like all of them, but i hope urs will come with a synth that sound less plastic (dunno if it s right word but haven t found something else to describe it) with osillators sounding more analog, like gforce oddity or minimonsta or es1/esm oscillators, massive saw is fine too, nord 2 saw... i like more that kind of oscillators sound, but the one in ace and zebra work great for many type of sound so it s fine too ,if one day we can load sfz in zebra that would be amazing, or if urs work on a new oscillator module for it that could make it the ultimate synth, mseg envelops and xmf filter are the best you can get in plugs imo. |

And btw the sound for Batman Dark Knight and Inception was made with Zebra. Just if we talk about sound quality...

i second that. i am a happy zebra user, i use it day in day out and it sure can sound massive. though on basic bass and synth sounds you notice a very plastic nasal sound to it.. try to make a soft esm like baseline on zebra, at least i can´t. however, my sound design skills are limited, maybe it´s my bad after all..

Zebra sounds weak and plastic, like a toy for learning basic synthesis. And yes Thuj the largo has the looks but doesn't deliver imo either. The only real soft synths that can deliver a thick/crisp sound is sylenth and omnisphere at the moment the rest needs a lot of touching up and polishing.
Perhaps ACE can get a 3/5 but zebra definatly 1/5.
cheers,
A

LoL
Zebra may not come with your beloved dance and trance presets like sylenth does tho its more dedicated for film in the first place. Do you say the sound of Dark knight and Inception does sound like plastic..sorry but nah..whatever
You got way more possibilities in zebra then in sylenth and since i own both i use them both a lot but don`t see a big difference in sound quality. It sounds plastic but won almost every challenge where it participated..hmmm , why?
common guys , i do not see your point..
ACE is a whole other concept and a synth that sounds that good for 69€ deserves alot more +1.. -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.- |

Do you really think Hans Zimmer used Zebra2 extensivly in those 2 movies? I don't use big synths for bread and butter elements either and I assume that Mr Zimmer doesn't aswell.
I don't understand your remark on "beloved dance and trance presets", I think you misunderstood the point of the post. I think most of us have our own presets as starting points.
And I must make a remark that I was speaking out my own subjective opinion about the matter, I don't really care that Zebra won all the challenges it participated in my opinion on the matter is that the Zebra is utter rubbish when it comes to the ability of me putting it in the mix without having to put 4 plugins on it. Perhaps you and I are not into the same sounds and therefor disagree on the matter. I don't know I have not heard your stuff. We do agree on the ACE that's a fact though
Cheers,
A

Read about here..
http://www.audionewsroom.net/2008/05/howard-scarr-sound-scientist.html
or talk to Howie on KVR personally.
Check here the interview with Howard about Inception etc.

imo it doesn`t belong to the kind of sounds imo, its just a matter of tweaking and what i ment is the suggestion you might just use the sylenth presets wich are almost all dance or trance orientated and start from there, so you already have a good dance startingpoint but in zebra you might need to recreate similar patches. I believe if you would try to recreate a patch you like from sylenth in zebra and post both results here as wav together with the preset , noone could tell a big difference.
just my point of view..

you nailed it with touching up and polishing , my view on this is that a synth very well designed its almost imposbile to make bad sound of it, or their is many sweet spots that are easy to find and that sound great.. imo with most software its just the oposite, they sound not that great and we have to work a lot on them to get decent and convincing sound .( some offer lot of possibility of sound sculting)
with softsynth you have to find at what you find them good for and then use them just for that. for example largo i find it amazing for athmoshpere, metalic sounds/leads that kind of stuff and use it for that mostly.zebra i like it a lot for fx, it s just a dream synth to make fx on,for some pads, stabs, some leads it can work great too i find it a bit dark sounding, i like that.

I totally agree with A.rosengren on zebra. It has awesome synthesis possibilities but the sound is really a problem. A zebra2 with sylenth sound would be the perfect synth
