(New )Styles of Progressive and Dark Psy - How would you describe them?

hi folks,
while sitting around with my friends we had a discussion whether there are styles that could be calles "progressive dark psy" / "dark(ish) progressive psy" and happy dark psy...
I would like to know what you think about these "fantasy styles"...
do they really exist?
if yes, some examples reflecting your opinion would be nice...

Progressive dark psy and dark progressive psy definitely exist...most of the stuff from Zenon Recs, Comsic Conspiracy, etc.
I don't know about happy dark psy. Happy is a subjective state of mind..it doesn't really describe music very well.
You believe in the users?

progressive dark psy and dark(ish) progressive psy are (to my ears) the same thing and new names for minimal trance that started with acts like paps, yumade etc etc
go listen to some older releases and you'll see that everything been done, you just name it differently.

happy dark? sounds cool... it's similar to my style, 'hardcore lounge'
simon is right, there is nothing new in dark prog, sensient is doing it since ages, and try older stuff from labels like zillion mental anarchy, tatsu, manta, flow...
it's good that more and more things happen in this stlye again.

we had many topics about this thing..
many people call music in many ways
it deepens how u listen it , how u feel it,
exampl. some call it just progressive , some of them add another word .. because of some things in music that he heard.. so some of the names are right but some of them just exaggerate
p.s i would notice a concept of a pixan recrodings release : " The sound is like dark..full onnightandday..psychedelic stuff...chill man it's just music! "

Progressive dark/happy psy would be artist like Ocelot and so on. You truly don't need to ask before you describe whats in your ear. Psy-core is alive and I'd like to hear some some happy-psycore. You can listen to all the older releases all day long and you will not find psycore along with lots of fresh new style ever done before.
Go with what you want to call it and you'll be fine. Its your freedom |

i find your music not very happy but more like trippy travelling in the chilling zone, which is really good. congrats for this.
about how to call the whole style Bob is not the best name hehehhh
dark progressive sounds associating enough because of being used to describe the style for first time, i mean you know what to expect

Mixing maximal trance would be a nightmare, eh?
Dark Progressive definitely exists, and it doesn't make a difference which word comes first.. obviously.
Ocelot is definitely happy dark to me, given everyone elses definition of dark psytrance. |
