Crazy Doll n Mystery Date!

Man... your sound is really repetitive, but what can I say...

everything ends like starts...

but I'm sure that lot of ppl will really like'em...

what's repetitive? ha?
its "live trance"... man, if you know what pattern means in music composing (its usually 32-64 bars) so the thing i may reveal here:
there's not even 1 pattern that repeats more then twice in NO song of mine in this release.. (true about drum patterns also)

tell me what places in "Crazy Doll" and "Mystery Date" are repetitive.. at what running song time?

Sorry it took me so long to get around to this, but due to popular demand, I'll review these:

Angels: nice and dramatic, sound work isn't perfect, but the concept is very nice.

Bio Scream: 100% goa, a real raw Israeli oldschool sound. Structure is not that well thought out, but the flow of the energies is good. I'd reorganize the track to be more vicious. I wouldn't go so far as to call this track full-on though. Maybe switching the bassline to something more pressured and agressive later would be a good idea, since the energies stay in the same line too much after the break.

Mystery Date: I wouldn't quite call this Astral Projection's style, since they tend to be much less "noisey"... You really should put more effort in the bassline. This track is much more controlled than Bio Scream, less hectic and much more to the point. Very nice.

Crazy Doll: Nice SUN Project-like direction here, less proffesional and a lot less minimal, but kind of reminded me of Space Dwarfs in what you were trying to do here. You try and force the energy forward by adding more elements and passages all the time, you should try just flowing with it.

Jul (The Other Side): I'd go and lower it's BPM some more. I'd make it around 110bpm. It develops a lot, but again, you leave no time to get used to old elements, in a very goaish manner. I like it, but it harms the ability to chill out to this track. Some great ideas and very nice melodies here.

Wait 4 Nothing: Very good elements all over the track. Totally unorganized, which harms this track a lot, as potentially this could be a VERY powerful goa track. Too many stops in the beat, too many things coming in just to change the environment, sometimes when it doesn't need changing. It's structured very impulsively when it should have been well planned here.

Catfight: Too much focus on the a la Juno60 leads, very Astral Projectiony all the way. Very open sounds and energetic flow, but again, just lacks a vicious edge to give people the chills. This track just doesn't feel like it's getting anywhere.

7th Diety: Call me old fassioned, I like it when the guitar riffs and pianos have a smoother harmony and chord progression. Very deep in what you're attempting to do here, but the elements don't all feel uniformly fitting to the track. Especially that screechy lead that enters in the middle.

Incision: Some great elements here. Again, lost to a lack of control on most things here. Great music, not as well done as it possibly could be.

Generally: Well, you've definately got some great melodies here. You know how to create very energetic sounds, and you're really starting to learn how to go with the flow of the music much better. Your soundwork has improved quite a bit compared to your older works. Again, structure is the main weakpoint, followed by non-proffesional mastering. You've still got a lot to work on to improve here. Too many breaks in the beat, not enough free-flowing, twisting around the cutoff of the sounds when there are 3-4 leads going around together just gets too confusing at times (this is a combination of both structure and mastering mistakes IMO). About the basslines/bassdrums - they are just not present. They are pushed way into the background, leaving most of the low frequencies open. This may be very comfortable for making leads with minimal EQing and compressors, but it leaves tracks without a proper drive. Your attempts at not repeating yourself end up harming more than doing good sometimes, just think in a clearer way - 'what would I like to hear next' instead of 'how do I change this'. Create stuff from your soul, not only your brain.

Catfight was what I consider the most dissapointing track here, Mystery Date the best, and Wait 4 Nothing has the most potential.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

WOW.. thats what i call a professional review

all 9 tracks ARE highly unorganazed.. but its done on purpose and nothing i wish to change.

Sometimes music has to be unorganazed to stand aside of all the usual genre standards, otherwise it gets too likely to some other band.

About the bassline elements.. I dont feel like following AP or any other band, man
i feel like making my own basslines and make it sound like i wish to - not like people around wish it to sound
I do not pretend to make commercial music, and i guess you just must hear it once more to dig whats going on with all the fast changes... every break comes when your mind wants it to come, and the drumline starts exactly when you are awaiting for it to kick in.

I dont make the music with the brain, its exactly the opposite - this music has done by my soul, not mind

If it will be professionaly mastered and will have the structure you wish to hear - it wont be BrainStorm and probably will remind you of some other band, i dont like this idea so i prefer to stay with home sound

Does anybody knows anything about the party at Hangar 11, next week (16th march, Tel Aviv)? Any djs friends from there?

I have visited some sound studio in TA and guys there were amazed by the quality and massivity... they proposed to me to get one of the tracks at that big party, they say people will go wild, while hearing this music after the "usual" IM, Astrix and Astral tunes..

so if one of you has any directions, i would really appreciate any support!

Hi brainstorm! long time no see...
I heard for now:
Bio Scream
carzy doll
Let me first of all say, very nice... Like the new touch you gave your music...
Bio scream is a nice scrachi goa song, with nice solid melodies... and a good confused build up. you could try to use some sampels(movies) to spice your bulids up op.
Carzy doll more fullonish but still goa, liked it less then bio scream, but still nice, the sound is not that pulished in this one. But still good.
I just dont have time to give a serious review to the rest now... but could you recommend me what to hear and i'll make serious reviews out of that!
See you my friend, and good luck with the album.

Thanks, Man

personally i think "JUL" is the best track in this release, followed by:

"Mystery Date"
"Wait 4 Nothing"
"Bio Scream"
"Incision"
"Crazy Doll"

New comp, Reason 2...
Wonderful thing - the less attention i pay to Reason's peak sound meter - the more powerful becomes the sound i get

BrainStorm,

I would like to ask you for 2-3 tracks that are not demo. Soon (september or october) my crew will probably throw a party here in Sweden. Im very much intrested in playing music that no one have heard before. I'll probably take a set myself to play some new music and if u like i could put one of your tunes on my playlist.

If u are intrested send me a email: octodur<at>burken<dot>nu (spam filter =)
