Native Harmonics from New Zealand is a label with an ear for the tribal, the innovative and the deeply psychedelic.
With a focus on New Zealand acts, Native Harmonics offers a platform to showcase the increasing number of highly talented producers from Aotearoa, who have been charging up the dancefloors with beats that are refreshingly unique, intelligent and mindbendingly powerful.
Native Harmonics’ integral approach merges contemporary electronic genres such as Dub, Breaks, Psytrance and downbeat grooves into cohesive flowing journeys, dissolving musical boundaries.
Behind the record label is Maia, a well-known Psytrance DJ in NZ, label DJ for Organic Records (UK), and organiser of numerous music events, including the earth friendly festival Luminate.
Reflecting the vibrant electronic music scene evolving in New Zealand, Native Harmonics presents fresh, high quality, funky grooves with a psychedelic twist.

EARTHBEATZ - V/A - NATIVE HARMONICS RECORDS- NHRCD001
Native Harmonics’ first release, “Earthbeatz“, merges a stimulating diversity of rhythms from Dub, Breaks, D&B, Psytrance, Tribal and downbeat grooves.
Eight artists from New Zealand and two from Australia convey their ongoing inspirations from nature in this compelling journey through mystic forests, twilight hours, the dark of night and the liquid light of sunrise.
“Earthbeatz” features artists well known to the club and outdoor festival scene in New Zealand, such as Module, Benny Tones, Grouch, Tom Cosm, Psyzaak, Spoonhead and Ecophonik. Many of these producers are also gaining a following overseas, as New Zealand music starts to permeate the global consciousness.
A welcome addition is the breathtaking video track from Diwata, featuring footage of the stunning New Zealand landscape set to an enchanting musical composition.
Deepfried Dub and Tranquility Bass from Australia complete the mix with their sublime, dubby rhythms.
All artists featured performed at the Canaan Downs NYE festival 2008.
The CD’s graphics, by VJ Funkatron, features the Powelliphanta snails, an endangered species native to Aotearoa, living in the hills and forest of the festival site.
Mastered by Colin Bennun (OOOD/Voice Of Cod), and compiled by DJ Maia. “Earthbeatz” is packed full of phat, chunky grooves with a distinctive Kiwi down to earth flavour.
