Hi there!
Moving out of the country for a while soon, and I want to bring a portable DAW so I can make music on the trip.
I've found this computer, wich seems quite nice according to the specs vs. price:
-Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7200 (2.0 GHz, 4 MB L2 cache, 667 MHz FSB)
-17" Wide Screen WXGA+(1440x900)
-2048MB 533MHz DDR2 SDRAM (2x1024)
-120GB (5,400 rpm) SATA Hard Drive
-8X DVD+/-RW drive med software, leser og brenner både CD og DVD
-256MB DDR ATI® MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1400 graphics card, PCI-Express x16
But, I've always heard that Dell is a big nono for DAWs... why? |

I don't know who told you Dell is a big no no coz i've used three Dell laptops so far and never had a problem with any one of them!
The specs you mentioned will be more than enough i would recommend getting a 7200 rpm hard disk though..
I'm currently using a 1.6 Ghz Centrino duo which has 2MB L2 cache & 533Mhz FSB & its still good enough so the configuration you mention will be dare i say it "killlaaargggh"

Nice.
Is the difference between 5400 and 7200 really that big? Mostly Ill use my external Lacie Big Disc (7200) so I guess it wont be a prob....
Ive also heard that the Dell Inspiron are quiet pc's? Am I right? |

Well no the difference isn't really that big but you don't buy a new laptop everyday so might as well get the best you can now..
As for them being quiet yes the new centrino duo's are especially quiet..
