In real life, I don't know a single person who buys CDs anymore. I'm not saying they don't exist, but they're one in 10,000 electronic music fans. I'm so glad that artists have gotten wind of that and offer digital downloads for fair prices.
On topic: Truly awesome album... 25 listens and it still sounds fresh and unexpected! |

I still buy CDs, and I know people who still buy them too. Also in this forum there people who still buy CDs. people are still buying, there's still hope. I'm not only an electronic music fan. I'm a music lover and collector. I buy CDs from all kinds of genres and styles and a lot of the people I know do the same. Yes, some of them buy digitally, but they also buy CDs. It doesn't have to be this or this for everyone. People can buy both. Personally, I only buy CDs, and strongly believe in the Album Listening Experience.
Cheers ! |

Yeah but I can ensure you that you are very few and not enough for most artists to even break even on the CD production side. Maybe names like Ott will break even but very few will. On the contrary digital sales are on the rise and is the future. Vinyl faded away and so will CD's. It's just a matter of time.
I also believe in the concept on an album but it can be experienced in other ways than on a CD. Music is music no matter the package it comes wrapped in.

Well, it's a shame that some people can't see the emptiness of cold digital files.
It's just not the same. Of course the music is the most important thing, but when it comes in a beautiful package with beautiful artwork, it gives the listener so much more.
It's something to own and cherish. You can't cherish digital files.
We see things differently and it's ok. There are some advantages in buying/selling digitally, but what can I say, I just prefer CDs.

I cherish every digital file I buy. It's exactly the same file on a CD. The artwork is nice (once in a while) but is not at all needed in order to appreciate and experience the music. IMO;)
Sorry for the off-topic.
Best of luck with the release Ott www.beatagency.dk |

I am personally waiting for Ott's new album on CD, as I like having a physical copy of what I am paying for. It's like having a digitial back-up pre-made to a professional standard with decent packaging to keep it safe. As it is far more likely my hard drive(s) will fail, or need to be formatted than for example my house burning down.
For me it is like having a master copy, to cherish as my own.
Hopefully soon the link will appear on http://www.ottsonic.net to buy it as a CD.

Cd's are no more safe than an external hard drive. Just to set the record straight
Anyway each to his own

Each has their plus and negative points, and with "cloud" storage, there is another mode of storage becoming available.
One of the main advantages of a CD is that you can resell it too. Which is something you can't do with a digital copy, afaik.
Still dreaming of aural adventures along the Musical-Mind River Ott.

I didn't say it's needed, Beat Agency. I said that it's a big plus.

As BA said, I cherish my files...and I'm pretty sure that you can listen to an album the exact same way whether its on CDs or digital. Last time I checked, anyways.
I also consider CDs around a billion times easier to damage than digital files. Who in this day and age doesn't have a backup HD??? If you lose your music to a hard drive crash, you are just as stupid as the person who keeps all their original precious CDs in their car and loses them all in a car crash.
This, in addition to putting more money in the pocket of the artist that I'm supporting...is worth more to me and gives me more of a warm fuzzy feeling than small-ass artwork and a piece of plastic
To each their own, for sure.
