hey there, first of all id like to tell you that i posted a top 10 of tracks from this section, you can find it here

but what interests me is organizing a little bit the mess that this section is, here are my ideas for it, let me know what you think

-------

hey there this post is intended to promote the upcoming artists of the new tracks section of this forum

first of all id like to describe the criteria i used:

1)i only downloaded the tracks that were not difficult to download. no one can expect that someone will sign up for things or go through 10 pages just to get an mp3 from a band they dont know. i also got tons of errors, or cannot find page, etc. the best way to post a track would be directly putting the link for the mp3 file.

2)i only donwloaded the topics that made sense, posting things like NEED FEEDBACK PLEASE!!!! is not something that attracts me.

my idea is that we shoud all agree on the format of posting a new track:

the topic should be :

name of the band - name of the track. it would also be great if everyone remembers to fill the id3 info, so when i play it on winamp i know what im hearing.

3) i only downloaded tracks from bands that posted several tracks, this means that the bands have a serious intention of keeping their creative production.

basically my idea is to organize a little bit the section so new artists can really have a chance of getting their tracks hear.

this part represents the objetive side of my top 10, the tracks i liked of course are related to my subjective taste.

mmm i think thats it .

I agree with you totally filter... as a track poster myself I will apply your terms!

I recommend that anyone who posts tracks in this forum takes a look to filter's message on top. His ideas would really help us all out.

filters TOP 10 is here:
http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php?topic=20377&forum=6

filter: this is a great idea,
this way people new to this section and bands will have a criteria to follow and download the mp3.
this way more reviews will be avaible. i hope

shoud i add to filter statements:
the mp3 demo must be a concrete idea, i mean the whole track not a 1minute mp3.

it would also be great if we could post a poll with the new artist tracks listed, so everyone can vote for the tracks, generating a forum's top 10 new tracks

this is all for now.

Well, as one of the moderators in this section - I have to admit that I agree with the fact that links do NOT always work, and I don't register to most of the services that require that as well, and yes, I find this a problem.

BUT. Not all of the services allow direct downloads of files. Not all of the free services are free of all bugs and problems or other limitations. I have had problems downloading from many services that others had no problem with.

About topics like "I NEED FEEDBACK!!!!" well, I usually don't bother reading them myself - but I won't limit others to that. As much as I don't like those, 'intelligence factor' is not mentioned anywhere in the guidelines (or else things like using numbers instead of words might be banned, let alone "KILLER!@#!" as a description of a track, and so on) - and I would think that deleting posts according to what I see right and not strictly according to the guidelines is NOT something a moderator should do. Different than what some users think - the moderators don't think they have a right to be the thought police here. I certainly don't. The top 10 section has threads named "MEGA UBER KILLING KILLER SUPER TRACKS!@#!@#", which I find something between stupid and hilarious, but those threads aren't deleted. Or locked. Or anything. Everyone has his right to express himself as he or she sees fit (as long as it's according to the guidelines).

Yes, this section is not very organized - since it's built of threads not connected to anything except to themselves. And yes, I could probably work hard at making things more organized here, but is it really worth all of the annoyed people on the way? This section is one of the rare ones where I'm happy to see that nothing is going out of hand. I'd like to keep this section the way it is - the section with the best vibes in this board excluding maybe the links section which is all good fun.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

Yes, as a submitter, I try and keep up with all this.... i founded / manage and review for an unsigned-artist-review website (dnbscene.com) so i'm fully aware of all these annoyances to the listener... always try and add id3, a decent filename including artist and title, and a description of the track somewhere.

the only thing i cant (always) do is direct links to mp3s - i really wish i could, but my primary mp3 host (ampcast.com) doesnt allow deeplinking, and there's nothing i can do about it :/           http://www.dartrecordings.co.uk/

good initiative filter!!! luv your attitude......keep up the good work!

if more guys post top 10s of new artists, this section can really rock! if i post a top 10 then my track will be there in the list, but then again, i've to post 9 more good tracks & i'm sure that should more than compensate shameless self promotion!
