Hey,
I posted a few songs up a while ago under Iapetus. I went overseas for a while and my computer died so I haven't been able to make any songs until recently. I've posted up the start of a new song, crusty jugglers

www.myspace.com/meatbattery

It's at a reasonable 154bmp, unlike my usual ~190 and I use the hungarian gypsy scale a lot to give it a strange sound.

Any feedback on how it's going would be awesome
Thanks

Wow, I love it! This song has soul, something which even the best songs in this genre sometimes lack. Either that or it really just resonates with me. This is the kind of thing I hear in my head when walking down the street (since I have no mp3 player so I gotta make my own tunes when on the go).

I do agree, that snare should be low cut. In fact it sounds to me like the problem frequency with it is more in the mid-low range, so bust out the eq.

But in the end I don't give a shit about minor quality details when a song speaks to me like this. Maybe its because I have always like the eastern European melodies and those harmonic minor scales, ever since I was a wee lad (I remember being blown away by the gypsy songs in The Red Violin and Fiddler on the Roof when I was hardly 7 years old).

I listened to you other song and I must say I like the cut of your jib. Your music doesn't seem to conform to any particular genre, which makes it sound more inspired and from the heart since it doesn't always sound the same like so much psytrance does(and so many other electronic genres as well).

Maybe I'm just getting excited with first impressions but I really wanna hear more from you.

Thanks guys,

Yeah I'll sort out the eq a bit. When my comp died I lost all my samples and presets so I'm in the process of getting my sound right.

I've chucked up the start of an old song and I'll try and get some new ones up soon

Good God Man! Archaic machine is some kind of trance-core genre. Does anyone else make stuff like that? I usually like slow stuff but that track is the shit!

I've only been into psytrance for a few years and listened to mainly death metal, as well as classical and jazz so I guess I try to make psy a bit different to purists

Haha and with a metal background 190bpm isn't all that fast when you're used to 240+

I just landed overseas to study for a couple of mths and all I've got is a crappy 1.6ghz laptop which isn't really handling any music sequencers so might take me a while to get anymore stuff up            http://soundcloud.com/meat-battery/

Thanks, I presume you're talking about Hyperdub? Yeah I agree abt the bass, when I made it I was stuck with crap headphones and no speakers. Atm i'm adding to the track and I've started using cronox for the bass, which has a much fuller sound and works well at high bpm            http://soundcloud.com/meat-battery/
